I like western ones as long as they look like they are made for combat, like the ones 2 posts above, with feet that tiny the thing is just going to get knocked over with a well aimed rocket at the foot.
I cant really stand how over exaggerated the gundam style is with all those energy swords and super-mega-hyper speed dashes yet they look like they would be so easy to destroy.

They're actually really easy to destroy; if you've watched Gundam (besides G) you'll notice most of the MS sustain glancing blows, block, or dodge shots altogether otherwise they get destroyed

If you've played Super Robot Wars (the turn based game where it's pretty much a Japanese mech fanboy's wet dream fanfic) you'll also notice that the game classifies 2 types of robots: Real and super; real being Gundam types that rely on speed and have low hitpoints to survive and Super types like Mazinger that have an incredible amount of health and armor
I like mechs that looks less like plastic action figures, and more like tanks with legs.

Japanese mechs are pretty lame IMO. There's no feeling quite like walking a mech that's armored to the teeth out of a hangar into a heated battle. You feel like a total bad ass.
Robotech was my first anime and I love the mecha. <3 how acouple of them are in the Mech Warrior Games. Everyone favoures Timber Wolf or "Mad Cat" for you Mech Commander people. I personaly favour War Hammer from the Mech Warrior series. The normal Veritech comes at a close second.
Offtopic: I bought an old style Mech Warrior board game with plastic mechs and other neat things. Pretty much a dungeon and dragons type set up with damage charts and whatnot. Pretty cool though it's missing acouple plastic figurines. :x

My old email and even my steam login is Flihyte, and I [i]almost[/i] made it my FP name back in the day. I liked the more story-based series over the cheap competition based bandai toy marketing extravaganza, but they're both still favorites because of their use of 3D at the time.
Also I don't think I ever saw a spelling since credits roll by at the speed of light on CN, but figured it'd be spelled more like a name and not just "FLY HEIGHT".
I wonder if North Korea has mechs in its media.They might be a completely different style than eastern and western mechs.We'll probably never know,though... :saddowns:

I still have that. Starting up the mech for the first time was an orgasm.
The only thing that pissed me off was the game only having a singlelife, and if you died (or ran out of money), it deleted all your saves and you ahd to start from the beginning (had to restart the whole game so many times at that fucking battleship :argh:).
Yeah, I used to love the mechwarrior games as a kid. But in never dug deeper into that matter because one day after
school, I saw a madcat model in some roleplaying shop. 10 year old me walked in all keen since I liked building model
vehicles and asked the guy behind the counter how much he wanted for the model kit from mechwarrior. Then he completely
nerded out about how it was battle-tech and not mechwarrior and the model was 100 bucks so I could get out because
I couldn't afford it anyway and this was serious buisness and shit and a respectable, noble hobby, not some cheap
kids toy stuff, so I was like 'fuck that guy' and never got my head around how an adult could be so full of himself because
of something that is clearly attractive kids.
Anyway, lets not start comparing facts with these things. They are not real. We don't know what they do. The only
valid fact is how cool they look, so I go with Western mechs.

The only aspect that makes it awesome are probably the crazy designs, and the whole concept of G Gundam is like a world wrestling federation of Gundams, which makes it badass

I don't really like that, and a huge bunch of Eastern Mechs suffer this problem as well.
I guess that's why I posted an Eva, they're just so humanoid in shape and form that it's difficult to call them a mech. One thing we can all agree on is that they're all fucking awesome.
