Still get's the point across that it's really fucking big.
No one who I mention it too would really give a shit so while I have the opportunity to talk about it I don't because well no one gives a shit.
I was sitting there one day when my teacher was like "Oh we have a transfer student from America" and I was sitting there thinking "Please be hot" and then comes in a female stereotypical nerd. Obese, glasses, voice, etc. It doesn't help that she's sporting a Bleach bag and a Death Note notebook (A replica of the book) and that this is Britain.
She get's sat next to me and all my friends laugh and give me a thumbs up, I'm prepared to give her a chance and try to be friendly because well she's got a hard time ahead of her and as I turn around she's right in my face and the first thing she says is "Do you like Death Note?" and I'm like "Why out of all the things that you could have said to me, did you have to mention anime?" so she goes "Oh you do like Death Note" and then proceeds to tell me for the rest of the month about how hot L and Light are.
She's the only person who talks about Anime/Manga every day at my school so it doesn't help the image and while I'm pretty sure she would be interested in whatever I have to say I don't exactly want to discuss it with her. If she doesn't even know what Gurren Lagann is then what's the point?
The "hot transfer student" cliche from anime, gone wrong.
My school reacted the same way but they just called it cartoon porn. They knew i watched anime so i couldn't hide my powerlevel due to the fact that a girl i'm friends with told every that she does and i did. But lots of people didn't really care they just joked about it.
I don't hide any of my anime watching from people at my school or friends or anyone. I even played Wanko to Kurasou at my friend's lan once.
pfft why do you guys care so much? Just say you like anime, who gives a fuck on what people think about you
I sit at lunch with some girls like this, they don't talk about it endlessly, but I'm really hoping you were exaggerating.

People know that I watch anime, but I don't make a fuss about it and only talk about it if someone else talks something about anime to me first. Simply because I know that it doesn't interest most people that I know, and therefore it'd be really stupid to go push anime on their face (like in the transfer student story above).
On a mostly unrelated note, I just finished Spice and Wolf Season 1 yesterday. Any similar recommendations? Story or setting wise, since I really loved the whole economic medieval/middle ages theme, it actually reminded me of Mount&Blade. And don't say season 2, ill watch it when it's done airing so I can just marathon through it, but uh again, story or setting wise, and nothing too excessively magical (ie, same amount of magic shit as naruto), though I wouldn't mind that that much.

Pushing anime at friends is fun. I managed to get one of my friends to watch cromartie highschool (he lolled) and also got him hooked on touhou.

The only medieval themed things i can think of is Berserk and Claymore (both are manga though). I haven't read claymore but it's popular so i guess it's good.

How about story/character focus wise? I don't really read manga at all because it's annoying to read it online and it's expensive to buy it.

Okay it wasn't every single day but it was close enough to that.
It would always start from her talking about some random manga or anime she had just watched then it would go "Oh but it wasn't as good as Death Note, I really wish I could find a boy as hot as L or Light." or something along those lines and by then I would already be zoning out.
She told me that If I would let her then she could make me look like L and I was like "Ahahahaha. No."
Mercenary Pierre is a pretty good medieval manga. 26 chapters long.

I lol'd. But then, I thought about it and :geno:
"He watches those Chinese cartoons!"
Would be how my school reacts if I mentioned anime, so I hide my powerlevel.
You simply care too much. If you tell your friends it's not like they'll go talk about it to everyone in the whole fucking school and everyone reacts at it.
Pretty much no one will care. And if they do care and call it stupid generic stuff you can just come with a reasonable comeback. As in, not stuff like "Anime is for adults" "It's better than tv shows here". But I wouldn't expect that of you anyways.

Exactly. I use anime or game wallpapers on my school computers for some reason but I don't tell people about it, they see it and either give a shit or not and it just ends up in some jokes we can both laugh at.
:lol::lol::lol::lol:
You should go read Super-Dreadnought Girl ASAP if you like romantic comedy with some drama.
Well that was awesome.
From what I've seen most people think anime = naruto, inuyasha, bleach or death note. I've seen two of those, Naruto, and Death Note. (never finished naruto)

Well here if I even mention anime to others, they think of hentai. And they think hentai is some gore-porn.
Don't ask :geno:
That's what I've encountered here.
People I've encountered usually connect anime with stuff like dragonball and detective conan.

Well last time i was in Finland they played power metal in the café so there you have it.
Most people know I like this sort of stuff because of the transfer student talking to me and everyone else about it and occasionally bringing me up as an example of someone interested in it which I hope has a more positive effect than the one she brings to mind.
I don't really mind that people know that I like anime and manga because everyone who I know I'm at least on good terms with and if they do have something against me for liking it then I couldn't care less. I don't see why I should need to go out of my way and hide it.
Even the chavs in my area know I like it and they don't care even if they do insult said transfer student for liking it because as I said I'm pretty friendly with everyone.
Now I think about it the transfer student is extremely stubborn and outspoken rather than shy and withdrawn. Kinda strange because the only thing she really talks about is anime and everyone is pretty horrible to her which I try to avoid doing.

Ahahahaha :v: :v: :v:
You know what would be fucking awesome?
If the Nico Nico Douga singing squad sang Scramble (the school rumble op).
Biomega took a turn for the awesome. Ever since that debacle on Earth, Biomega is now a lot like Blame! Unexplained locales, creatures, people, etc. Too bad only 9 chapters left.
Raise thy sword ye mortal!

Now wait two weeks to see if you're VAC banned or not.
That picture I posted, you people don't seem to know the meaning of hyperbole. Frankly, I could care less if people know that I watch animu, but the people they know that watch animu are your stereotypical weaboos that are just into shows like Naruto, Death Note, One Piece to that extent. I am one of the most reserved and aloof people in my class, nobody really knows me. I don't want people associating me with any group of undesirables.
