I'm trying effortlessly to watch Yu-Gi-Oh over again and I'm not sure how, but I handled 100 episodes of dubb. I'm so cool.
Now I'm starting to find the subbed episodes.. though I couldn't find them for earlier episodes.. same for GX.. oh well
The dub for Yugayhoe is an incredible injustice towards the original story. They pretty much dumbed it down to 4kidz substandards and even altered their personalities. I liked the non asshole, actually semi cool Kaiba of the original Japanese version as opposed to the CARDS ARE MY LIFE Kaiba of the english dub.

But then there are grown men playing children's card games, there are being kidnapped over them, some people get seriously injured to the point they need to be driven off in an ambulance while playing the card game, these guys make and design there huge or expensive tools to play, well, a cardgame.

That's because IN AMERICA
The show orginally was aired in Japan. So the way I see it, the scenes of his Grandpa being hospitalized and these kids being kidnapped and such are part of the original Japanese story.

I'm watching it simply for nostalgia purposes really. I watched it a long time ago, although never completed it. I've seen a few episodes of GX (dubbed) on TV randomly around and didn't even know other Yu-Gi-Oh series had been made. So I was mainly watching GX out of curiosity (.. its plot is terrible really... At least the original Yu-Gi-Oh sort of have something going for it.. I guess...) and now the original series for.. well I already said it. Anyways I don't know the main differences between the Dubb and Sub storyline wise, but I've heard there are. I wish I knew what they were though, and I hope their not major..
As far as I know the differences are that there is no shadow realm in the Japanese version, they just kinda of die or something.
Oh and the spell card Monster Reborn is a Cross on the japanese version lol.
Besides that I don't know the key differences.. but I hope it doesn't even matter, since I'm watching subbed from the battle city semi finals and onwards.
I also like to skip a lot of episodes to however ;(

You know to be perfectly honest.. I actually kind of like the Japanese openings to Yu-Gi-Oh. I don't know if anyone else has seen them, but better than others I've seen..
