cod hate bandwagon
Same games are being released with nothing new or spectacular.
A lot of shooters have that boring and overused US vs RUS theme -_-
I miss when US vs RUS was n--oh wait, it was never new by the time video games rolled around. Still, at least Red Alert managed to make it spectacular.
DLC DLC DLC
and elitism (on both pc fans and console fans)

Saw that posted on FB. Thought it'd fit in well here.
How anyone can take an old gaming concept, give it a cute appearence and make tons of money by making it an app.
The fact that console games are so fucking expensive yet steam games go on sale for like 5 bucks every week it seems. Seriously, finding a decent xbox game for 40 bucks is rare. I wish I could afford a gaming PC.
Also, when people get too competitive. I play games on Xbox Live, and yeah, I realize it's console gaming and Xbox at that, so I can't have high hopes, but almost EVERYONE I'VE EVER MET is pretty much a huge raging asshole while I go and dick around and make jokes and shit, people actually get mad at me for having fun and not trying hard enough.
Fanboys/girls that will not accept any criticism towards their game/producer/whatever the fuck of choice.
Lame DLC that shouldn't cost money, but does.
Pre-order exclusive bullshit ESPECIALLY when it offers something significant. Exclusive weapons or abilities and things of that nature. Its not as bad if its just cosmetic stuff, but I'll be honest, that annoys me too.
"Realistic" shooters being the big thing today.
The only bullshit I hear today is "kills streaks positive K/D whoa whoa AC130 realism l33t knife throwing ownage 360 no scope pros."
It makes me miss the days where we as young kids would constantly be trading Pokemon, discussing Metal Gear Solid, whining about Legend of Zelda Dungeons, and laughing about silly games like Mario and GTA.
HD, to me, the cinematic effect is ruined, the game/movie runs WAY too smooth, it looks fake
On disk, DLC
Oh yeah, and modern gamers AKA the "youngsters", most of them are disrespectful little shits who only care about crap like texture quality. I used to know someone who bought a complete LoZ collection(I dont where or why), apparently he threw them all out because 1: there was no blood and 2: they were all "pixelated" and therefore "hurt his eyes". This story was confirmed to be real by family members and friends.

Holy fuck, you're not a true gamer if you can't appreciate old games.
Holy fuck, you're not a true gamer if you can't appreciate old games.
I dislike the notion that you can't be a "true gamer" if you can't appreciate old games. I consider true gamers to be people that play video games that they like and spend time enjoying them. I haven't played any LoZ games, or MGS 1&2, or mario games, but I am an avid Battlefield player (I own every battlefield game) and some of the only "old" series that I played a lot were the Homeworld series and the complete Age of Empires series. People like different things. It is like saying "your opinion is wrong" when you judge people like that. Just my $0.02.

Well in this case it's ok because yours is.
EA, DLC, and regenerating health.
+DLC
+Regenerating health
+Cover based shooting
+a lack of color in a lot of games
+DLC
+Pre order exclusives
+Quick Time Events
+Games that have single player modes that're just introductions into the multiplayer essentially
+Gamers who find said single player experiences mentioned above to be adequate or "good" (Seriously play a game with a good campaign for christ's sake)
+Bullshit anti used game shit, like when you can't access multiplayer (Or in some cases part of the single player) because you purchased the game used.
Oh, biggest thing I hate about modern gaming: Games that hold your hand the entire way through. Unskippable tutorials, or sections like in Portal 2 where they accommodate people who have never touched a computer before with huge on-screen text saying "PRESS W TO MOVE FORWARD" and "PRESS SPACE TO JUMP."
But the whole way through, a lot of games just have this really manufactured feel... Like they have to spread the fun as smoothly as possible, so there aren't really any sections that stand out from the rest. Like in Bulletstorm, the game is just a series of areas with pre-determined cover to use and pre-determined hazards to knock a pre-determined number of enemies into at pre-determined times. Or in games like Mass Effect, they give you all these pre-determined dialogue options so the plot can only advance in a few pre-determined ways, but certain pre-determined characters may die, so that might evoke some pre-determined emotions.
My big problem is probably that I've been spoiled by roguelikes, and games like Dwarf Fortress. I like when you might open a door and encounter 50 enemies that you're completely unprepared to fight, so you have to improvise your own way to escape them. Or finding a godly overpowered item randomly on the first floor, so just by random chance you have a really good run. Or maybe finding some really good magic item that makes you have to re-evaluate your planned warrior build. Games like that ensure that your experience will be different from most other people's, and almost nothing is pre-determined.
The fact that 90% of all games since 2007 have sucked ass
How creative and distinct art styles seem to be absent from a lot of games.
A recent game with a great art style would be Deus Ex or TF2.
How gaming today has pretty much become a monopoly and publishers focus on getting the next sequel out as fast as possible rather than polishing it and making it good.
Also, Origin.
That the main priority is profit earned.
And you can't resell most of them anymore.
I don't know about you guys, but I am 100% okay with DLC as long as it's not content that is missing from the base game.
Good DLC: Fallout DLC and Elder Scrolls DLC (minus you know what).
Bad DLC: ME3 Prothean DLC and Emdubya 3 map packs.
All this bitching about how stuff like BF3 expansions "should have been in the game" irk me. I'd rather have a game with occasional DLC packs over two or so years than a new game released annually.
The general gaming community. I may just have shit luck with choosing servers etc but I used to be able to join almost any random server in a lot of valve games a few years back and enjoy myself with the people on it. Now I join servers and everyone is either pissed off super easily or focused solely on winning and not actually enjoying themselves and having fun with other people on the server.

I LOVED when xbox and ps2 were the big hip consoles because there were so many original wacky action/adventure games.
DLC for single armor.
That the motive for most AAA games is $$$
'who gives a fuck about the content, lets just make a wicked trailer and rake in the money'
DLC
It just sucks dick
When the Oblivion horse armour came out everybody was saying that this is the future of games, tiny bits of cosmetic bullshit that are locked away on the disk
WELL
THOSE PEOPLE WERE RIGHT
Only rarely will you get a good DLC, GTA IV had some amazing content
Binding Of Isaac just got a DLC pack that adds 75% more content, this amazing content pack is also the same price as the Saints Row 3 DLC, you know.. the cosmetic bullshit packs that are locked away on the disk.
regenerating health.
I don't mind regenerating health really; in games like Cry of Fear or Resident Evil (before RE4) where health items are sparse and there are a few long stretches with no saves or healing items at all it just becomes a pain in the ass to have to avoid getting hit even two times when you're also low on ammo and can't fight. As an example, during PewDiePie's let's play of Cry of Fear, there's a scenario where he dies 38 times in a row even with abusing cheat saves because there is no way to recover health at all in that area. He may not be the best example given that he's not an outstanding gamer, but that's still a bit ridiculous for "medium" difficulty. Regenerating health helps to alleviate a lot of frustration. I do agree it's a bit ridiculous in some games like Gears of War and Halo, though, where your health can regenerate mid-combat quite rapidly, which defeats a lot of the challenge. It's better if it mainly serves as a mechanism to let you recover after battle, like in the Batman: Arkham games.
Perhaps tangential, but maybe it just has to do with the fact that I'm one of those players who hates using power-up/consumable items of any sort because it always feels like I'm wasting it even when I need it badly. Picking up medkits, etc. to restore health when it will waste some of the benefit since my health isn't all the way down annoys me. As Yahtzee puts it, [not a direct quote] I would rather use a peashooter than waste a nuke on a giant crab for fear of there being an even bigger giant crab behind it [that never appears].
Developers thinking that the reason why there game didn't go so well is because pirates so they just make the DRM worse
Pay me £10 and you'll unlock the ability to find out!
Horrible DRM, lack of replayability. No more fun tactical shooters like Rainbow Six anymore. (I know one's in the works from a company called Blackfoot or something.) DLC instead of expansion packs. The latest Unreal Tournament was basically Gears of War, the classic characters were hardly the same. I didn't mind the story line because I just skipped it and played the maps, I literally have no idea what the storyline is about.
The thing I hated the most was instead of looking like physically fit top-notch soldiers and mercenaries like in UT99/2k4, they were steroid abusing spehss marines. Stupid muscular. I fucking hate video game characters that look like GoW characters, it's really visually displeasing for me. Borderline disgusting.
Not so much gaming but I do have an issue with a lot of people apparently hating games for being 'arcadey' or 'not true to the original game' in the case of series.
For example, so many people seem to hate Need for Speed The Run with a burning passion, with the reasons stated above. 'Too unrealistic/arcadey' and 'it's nothing like the earlier games' etc etc.
Who gives a fuck? Seriously, the game is a blast to play, and I enjoyed every minute of my two playthroughs. Who gives a shit if the game has a cinematic or scripted feel to it? Just enjoy the fucking experience and stop whining.
There's nothing wrong with scripted games. Once people manage to beat that into their skulls, they'll enjoy their gaming a lot more. There is no reason to hate on a game just because the gameplay is different from previous entries in the series.
a game that sells has become more important than a game that innovates
