Hands down, Bowie.
When you deconstruct his music you further appreciate the complexity that went into creating it.
thing is.. with his more complex material, a lot of Eno influence pushed it forward.
That's a key factor why Station is my fave because Bowie's rawness is so much clearer on it than any of his other work.
station to station is a phenomenally underrated album i completely agree with you
Fuck, accidentally voted Prince :saddowns:
I like stronger tastes, and I reckon Bowie's probably fermented juuust right by now, so I'm going with Bowie.
This poll redundant they are going to fight in hell and we all know prince has a great chokehold technique which is how he became a prince in the first place
why would you choose a favourite of 2 people just because they both died recently? thats kind of messed
Prince for funk is like what Miles Davis was for Jazz; he stretched and bended it all over the place for hours on end.
I totally agree on that, but Bowie was that for the singer songwriter generation to come. When Simon and Garfunkel and Bob Dylan were in the end of their prime, Bowie rose up and revolutionized huge parts of the musical industries.
Just as Prince would do around a decade later, and what Michael Jackson also pushed the limits on.
Both artist are amazing, but there is no way I can't pick Bowie, because of the impact he had on me and my life. I wouldn't be anywhere near where I am today, if it wasn't for the mentality that Bowie's music and Bowie himself flourished me with.
oh dont be so hard on him, maybe this is his audition to work with buzzfeed
u see i got the debate in before anyone else thus i win. :smug:
I haven't really listened to either all I really know is this

I didn't realize people took facepunch polls so seriously.
I didn't realize people took facepunch polls so seriously.
Polls aren't just as simple as "vote A or B," my friend, no no no! We must perform a close analysis of the social issues which we believe that the polls present and have conversations about these issues, even though said conversations don't mean shit in a poll about whose music you like more. It must happen.

Also, don't forget that competition is bad too!
Bowie.
Prince looked like he was pretty obnoxious as a person.
My friend's father worked on production of music video sets when he was younger. If you were to ask him who was his least favorite to work with he would say hands down Prince. :v: He was apparently very obnoxious and annoying with demands.
Not saying that Bowie probably didn't have his moments either. But music wise I'd have to pick Bowie. Different tastes I suppose.
kinda surprised tbh, there are a lot of guitarist here yet noone mentions Prince as one of the all time great players.

scroll to 4:20. you don't do a tribute like that unless u have gr8 respect.
definitely prefer prince's music, not that big of a bowie fan
I never gave a shit about Prince, never even heard of him aside of the Animaniacs joke
But holy fuck has David Bowie made some longtime memories for me

it's great, really ambitious but some parts feel like filler, though the highlights are really fucking good
wish Bowie and Eno followed through with the continuation/series albums though
