Yes and yes.
I always have a series I haven't seen on my computer so I have something to watch every night.
I finished my last one (Zettai Karen Children) so I started watching another one Toshokan Sensou, it's about freakin' libraries with armies fight the Censorship army.
It's good so far, only 5 eps in.
(My point of view)
Otaku (English, not the Japanese, since AFAIK Japanese Otaku is something like a geek?) = Some guy who is obsessed with anime, manga, japanese games and similar.
Weeaboo (wapanese is a lot easier to spell) = Some guy who loves EVERYTHING Japanese, wants to be Japanese, wants to live in Japan etc. (and mostly some person who hasn't researched a lot about Japan, and who hasn't been there himself)
The only problem i have with that is that a combination of those would be possible, but you can't be an Otaku weaboo. That's as strange as saying someone is a Geek nerd.
I am pretty weaboo considering i want to live there (and start studying japanese culture and communications this year to achieve that), but i am not the "kawaii densu ne!!!" type and i did do a ton of research. I believe i have a genuine interest rather than the obsession most people associate weaboo's with. But i can't be an Otaku because i like more about Japan than just animu and games.
I don't think weaboo should be used in a bad way all of the time.
Weaboo and otaku are degrading terms.
Don't even start to think otherwise.

I've always had an interest in Japan, even before I watched anime.
I actually am saving up to move there sometime within the next 3-4 years, it's been a plan of mine ever since I was little.
Just thought I'd add that since we were on the subject.
Have fun with all that radiation

Sadly no, I had a trip planned there a few years ago but had to cancel due to various reasons.

Japanese people DO NOT like foreigners. Though I don't think that's the cultural norm for tourists, they tend to treat those people slightly "better" since they know they're not permanent visitors. If you're planning to stay for an extended time, they expect you to FOLLOW THE MAINSTREAM, DO NOT STICK OUT, ASSUME CONFORMITY. If you do, they'll maybe start treating you almost the same as everyone else.

Well you should probably visit several times before actually moving there

Yeah, that's what i remember hearing it to be like. Personally, I like America. just enough freedom, food, fat, and fear to function properly. Also, we got all the guns.
Anyone know what I should expect were I to take a vacation to Japan? I've been studying Japanese for the past few months in preparation of a trip there, and in about a year I should have an adequate understanding of it, just enough for simple conversation.

You have to remember though that although Japan has a much higher ratio of racists than other countries, most of them are okay with westerners. It's mostly the older population that hate you, the younger folk are more "internationalized". As long as you act properly, that is.

I agree completely, however I simply can't afford many trips in a small amount of time.
Allow me to show you this quick edit, to show you my feelings on this matter.

Both words are misused, and so are a lot of other words these days.
Not much you can do about it.
