Well since we're sorta posting anime music here's some Trigun. and I'm still having trouble remembering how to get it into video form. This is embaressing.
[*media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cjEgovupTw remove the *, and you can't use https
I watched Trigun badlands on demand from comcast and It was pretty nice, I really loved it. So I went to go see other animus because I assume they're not horrible.... aaaaand comcast left anime on there with their japanese audio still there, with an english dub over it. So I couldn't hear a word they said. rofl bad idea to go to on demand for animu. Also Tsuritama or w/e seems like it's all boys. do i really want to watch this?
Also Tsuritama or w/e seems like it's all boys. do i really want to watch this?
Yes, it's definitely worth it.
Just finished Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex as well. [sp]I was surprised they went for a "and everything returned to normal" ending, except for the Tachikoma, rip[/sp] It was pretty good, the scenes that contributed to the main Laughing Man plot were the best, the unrelated police serials were decent but nothing memorable. The main gripes I had were that some of the technology or scenery seemed too old to be in a futuristic world where it's possible to create advanced AI and full body prosthetics. The animation quality derped a lot of the time too. Oh and I still think Motoko needs to put on some fucking pants.
[sp]Everything didn't return to normal, the special forces restriction bill still passed, so currently section 9 could be described as an armed and dangerous domestic terrorist group. [/sp] Could you specify which parts you found unfitting? Also, gonna watch 2nd GIG?
So I just got around to finishing Gurren Lagann. [sp]Nia died 0/10 would not watch again[/sp] No in all seriousness it was a good show, I wish I had seen it sooner. ...no but seriously [sp]why the fawk did Nia have to die or pixelate or whatever she did ;-;[/sp]
[sp]Everything didn't return to normal, the special forces restriction bill still passed, so currently section 9 could be described as an armed and dangerous domestic terrorist group. [/sp] Could you specify which parts you found unfitting? Also, gonna watch 2nd GIG?
I just finished 2nd GIG, but I think I'm gonna watch it dubbed now because 1) a lot of the more complex stuff (technobabble, philosophy, etc.) simply didn't translate well into the subs and 2) the dubs were fantastic for the first season so I have high hopes for the second.
Anywho I think gintama does a whole lot better than other samurai anime out there. I mean seriously.

Watching Welcome to Irabu's Office/Kuuchuu Buranko. Loving the blend of traditional animation with live action. Reminds me a lot of Mind Game in that way. Incidentally, it's the same director as Tsuritama. Also Mononoke. I remember someone saying that Tsuritama was his most normal anime and I can see why, looking at the other two. Kenji Nakamura, if you were wondering.
Anywho I think gintama does a whole lot better than other samurai anime out there. I mean seriously.
what do you mean
What should I watch from my Plan to Watch? http://myanimelist.net/animelist/Jellyman&show=0&order=4 Or you can suggest other anime, I really feel like watching something similar to Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, or Samurai Champloo. Cheers.
Hmm, not sure how close it is to any of those, but I'd go with Baccano!. Love that show.
Be sure to watch Baccano! dubbed first, or immediately second if you MUST watch it subbed first. Seriously, they bring the characters much more to life than their Japanese counterparts. Not saying the original is bad but it really helps when the voice actors actually speak English with semi-authentic accents in 1920s America.
dubbed is bad and you should feel bad
I always feel that dub voice actors are bad at emotion.
Are you one of those that think it was dumb how [sp]Simon didn't just simply use Spiral Energy to keep her alive? Sure, this sounds all fine and dandy by itself, but then look at the story's plot and the whole major revelation at the climax. The Anti-Spiral declare that the eventual overabundance of Spiral Energy will be the end of the universe. Now okay, you're thinking "but it's just one person! That won't hurt much, would it?" And in a sense, yeah you're right. If Simon had indeed worked to keep Nia alive, that would not have completely thrown off the balance of the universe as we know it. BUT, what it does do is create an example. Sure, Simon may only just save one person, but that's just the work of one person. What happens when someone equally emotional saves someone else? Some child way off somewhere else can't handle their pet dying so they just magically wish it back. A loved one dies to a terminal illness, but it's all good because they can just wish them back! Oh wait, suddenly we completely run over the Anti-Spiral's final warning. Suddenly not enough life is dying off to make room for the new. Suddenly the whole universe gets overcrowded and it all blows up, just like how AS predicted it would.[/sp] And that's why that particular plot point had to happen.
@last page I watched Baccano! in English and I don't think it took away from the experience much. Not seen it in Japanese though. But in general I don't tend to notice voice in emotion, so it doesn't matter as much to me. Only really makes a difference when the sub is just plain bad, rather than just "not as good as the Japanese". You more often get realistic sounding voices in Japanese dubs though. In English, it's usually made all squeaky and unnatural. You get that with anime as well, but not so often. Sometimes I'll decide not to watch dubbed for the sake of taking in the sights instead. Personally, I feel like I miss a lot of what's going on while I'm keeping up with the subtitles. And sometimes the subtitles can be pretty fast, and it can get tiresome to continuously pause. The Tatami Galaxy is the example for the latter (still my favourite show though). Off the subject, I want some more movies. Got any to recommend that I don't already have here? Because i've grown up with english, and use it almost exclusively, i can easily read the entirety of the onscreen text and still have plenty enough time to observe the rest of the screen; sometimes I even watch the screen and read the subtitles at the same time. Unless you're completely fluent in english to the point where you can speed read in it, eng subs are probably hard for a non-native speaker I guess? So I can understand someone preferring dubs over subs in that instance, unless there's some Greek subs out there (in your case). the only anime i'll watched dubbed is yuyu hakusho, because it's hilarious.
I have thought about watching Gintama, but then I see that it is 201 episodes. I don't know if I can do that many... It thinks I'm Greek for some reason. I'm from and in Scotland though. Sometimes I just go all absent minded when reading subtitles, so I forget to keep reading. It's annoying. Like on one of the last episodes of Steins;Gate, I got to thinking about something else and I realised I'd missed a few lines of text, so I skipped back.

If you find yourself reading slower than how fast they're appearing on screen, and don't have enough to even look at what's going on, just keep trying and you'll eventually be able to do it. Or you can continue watching dubs it really comes down to how you want to watch it. I recently learned that bakemono means monster (and a few other things).
dubbed is bad and you should feel bad
curse me for having an opinion Seriously, it's stupid how people generalize anything, and dubs are no exception. Yes some dubs are painful to listen to but I've heard some amazing ones as well, Baccano! being one of them. And for me it wasn't quite right for the cast of Baccano! to be speaking Japanese for the setting. I generally watch anime subbed but holy shit at least I give dubs a chance
Are you one of those that think it was dumb how [sp]Simon didn't just simply use Spiral Energy to keep her alive? It's not my reading speed though, the only problem when it comes to subtitles is me drifting off, which actually doesn't happen incredibly often. But in the case of The Tatami Galaxy, reading speed was definitely a problem. Lots of text, delivered very quickly, and from the start of the series, it didn't give you much of a break between bursts of dialogue. If you've seen it you'll get what I mean (maybe), and if you haven't watched it, then do.
explain further
I believe gintama hits it right on the spot- whereas multiple samurai anime fail to do so, in terms of seriousness. Gintama is hilarious, but when it gets to these parts, it tends to be MORE tear jerking than "super serious samurai my sister died" anime.
I have thought about watching Gintama, but then I see that it is 201 episodes. I don't know if I can do that many...
It actually has 252 and is on hiatus
