watched 5 centimeters per second last night
too deep for me
8/10 still
that just proves that singing in english sounds better (when done by native speakers) than jap
the actual intro itself is irrelevant though, it's the fact that they actively put the faces of the english voice actors in the scene and actually left out the japanese ones which is a massive thing in itself, obviously showing even the writers / producers gave more shits about the english cast because the japanese voices were pretty mediocre
i don't really care what the creators think though, japs have really bad taste
Japs have bad taste, but subs>dubs
???
only thing I didn't like about the Baccano! dub was Luck, aka Jason Leibrecht
aka Hei in Darker than Black, yeah sure he puts an accent on in Baccano! but he still displays pretty much no emotion, and that's why he's bad and he should feel bad

Reminds me of Nyan~ Neko Sugar Girls.
Watching Welcome to Irabu's Office/Kuuchuu Buranko. Loving the blend of traditional animation with live action. Reminds me a lot of Mind Game in that way. Incidentally, it's the same director as Tsuritama. Also Mononoke. I remember someone saying that Tsuritama was his most normal anime and I can see why, looking at the other two. Kenji Nakamura, if you were wondering.
Examples of the style:

Watching Mononoke right now and Tsuritama and seen Kuchuu Buranko. And yeah, you can hardly tell he's the director for Tsuritama, the only familiarity is the use of colours.
Kuchuu Buranko is a wonderful show.
Be sure to watch Baccano! dubbed first, or immediately second if you MUST watch it subbed first. Seriously, they bring the characters much more to life than their Japanese counterparts. Not saying the original is bad but it really helps when the voice actors actually speak English with semi-authentic accents in 1920s America.
No, fuck that shit. The dub for Baccano! is definitely one of the better dubs, since they actually try and even apply fitting accents, but it still sucks. It's above your average shitty dub, but it's basically the best of the worst.
curse me for having an opinion
Seriously, it's stupid how people generalize anything, and dubs are no exception. Yes some dubs are painful to listen to but I've heard some amazing ones as well, Baccano! being one of them.
And for me it wasn't quite right for the cast of Baccano! to be speaking Japanese for the setting. I generally watch anime subbed but holy shit at least I give dubs a chance
No, dubs are not capable of being amazing because they are not being taken seriously enough by the companies producing dubs. Dubs are generally pretty shitty. Crispin Freeman is one of the only voice actors that manages to pull off a good voice, but when the rest of the cast is fucking terrible then it just doesn't fucking matter.
bebop dub is better than the original japanese, if you disagree you're literally and objectively wrong and also dumb sorry
No, it's absolutely terrible, Spike Spiegel is the only one that is properly dubbed. Everyone else is your average piece of shit actor.

Only reason I found out about Kuuchuu Buranko was because someone pointed out the similar hair designs of Koko and Irabu in a Tsuritama thread somewhere else. Similar design, colours switched around.

It's so polarizing because I almost invariably hate hearing Steve Blum in anime because he'll almost always be casted as the gruff, badass voice just from his work as Spike. He basically only has one voice in anime which is the worst ever because he has such a wide range of great voices in Western animation.
SOME PEOPLE LIKE DUBS
SOME PEOPLE LIKE SUBS
end of discussion there
That aside, I am watching Denpa Onno to Seishun Otoko. It is decent enough.

Decent enough means it gets a chuckle out of me every once in a while. Probably around a 6/10 on my scale. Better than Air Gear, but not as good as most shows.
Anyways, after that show, I think I'm going to go for YuruYuri, followed by the rest of K-On!!, When They Cry, and MariaHolic Alive.
Denpa is p boring tbh
Quite frankly, it was horrible too. I should have dropped it when I had the chance.

Strange, I love him just because of that voice. I listened to half of Last Exile dubbed just because he had a voice there.

It's just such a misuse of talent in my opinion.

dem soulless kiritsugu eyes man, it was awesome
Great,I come back to the world of watching anime and I've developed a pathetic and embarassing trait.
I am disappointed at myself

I prefer listening to voice actors who can and will actively change their voices to fit characters to one-voice-for-everyone guys
crispin freeman is the only exception, but then again he has changed his voice for one or two characters
Steins' symphonic material is great.
Movies on Youtube, hip hip hooray!
Here's The Tibetan Dog: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEY2CIL5LTo
Movie by Madhouse and some Chinese company. No argument in subs versus dubs here; it's in Chinese. Where are your phrases now to help you read quickly??? We read as equals.
It's a good movie, well animated, pretty simple sort of story. And it's conveniently on Youtube, so even more reason to watch it if you haven't already.

I'd rather eat a bag of nails then watch shows on youtube.

In that order?
And it's a movie, with the whole thing in one video, not split into parts. Downside is it only goes up to 360p, so I suppose it depends on what quality you prefer.

I can live with the low resolution, but YouTube handles audio terribly so most things on 360p sound like shit.

It's not always their choice really. The team chooses people on the voices they can make. They've decided that that voice fits that character, not the voice actor.
Easier explained by how a great movie actor can have a piss poor role in a AAA movie production, it's not necessarily the actor's fault, but the director that wanted him to act such and such and be such and such and being satisfied with a mediocre performance.
