I was so fucking happy when I found out this was on Xbox Live's games on demand thingy holy shit
Metal Arms was a badass game, I loved playing that as a kid.
A hidden gem, Trapt for the PS2. One day my sister just randomly got this game, and it was really fun.
You basically set up traps in various rooms in certain stages and fuck up these people that are chasing you for having a mark of a demon or something.
No one has ever heard of this game, and it's a shame.
Just found this gem through my games

One of the best RTS'es I've ever played.

I have yet to meet a person who has played this. Sure, it's kind of clunky but the ability to customize your units is awesome and I haven't heard of a current-gen RTS with customization options as extensive as the ones in this game.
If I just could get it to run on Win8

VVVVVV and Receiver.
Both really great indie games which introduce new gameplay mechanics which make both games fun.

The humor and gameplay is fun as hell.
Also it's got Richard Horowitz.
Homeworld Cataclysm is awesome, I wish it worked on windows 7. I get stuck on one particular mission and can't get beyond that.
Warzone 2100, one of my favorites.
Omikron: The Nomad Soul

The only game that I know of that tried to combine a FPS, fighting game, and 3rd person all into one game. And it had a pretty awesome storyline that doesn't waste any time in breaking the fourth wall. Also, David Bowie.

Last but not least, Microsoft's Urban Assault:

Another unique title, allowed for RTS strategies; even allows you to jump directly into one of your units for boosted stats. Territory control, and resource management.

Try setting compatibility to WinNT. I get flickering on the main menu, but other than that, it works perfectly.

Arguably better than Diablo, but most people haven't even heard of it.
Oh god that game was completely fucking torture for me and my buddy, we played it all the way through and it was soooooo boorrrring

A mech game where you can use stealth fields, drills, and your character travels around Old Tokyo on a hoverboard. Absolutely awesome. It was a Xbox exclusive, but for some reason they made the sequel (SLAI: Steel Lancer Arena International) a PS2 exclusive.

I played SLAI, that was a rather difficult game. I replayed it a year or two ago and thought "oh old me was just bad at games, I'll play it now and be great!" Nope.

Were the mechs called SCUBIs in SLAI? It always confused me why they didn't call them phantoms, seeing as going invisible is one of the most OP strategies.

I think they were called "SV". It stands for scoot vehicle which is even more ridiculous. Like really: giant robot, what should we call it ... well it's a vehicle ... and it uh ... scoots?

[t]http://images.wikia.com/residentevil/images/3/3e/Resident-evil-outbreak-ps2.jpg[/t] I enjoyed the everliving fuck out of this game and File #2. I especially loved File #2 because you end up fighting a giant zombified elephant in a zoo. It really expanded the story on raccoon city as well. I don't think it's so much underrated as neglected by Capcom, i'm really wishing for an HD rerelease on PSN so i can enjoy the game properly, and not through a hacked together emulator that is bugged to shit. I miss my old PS2.

This game gets no god damn recognition. It combined FPS and RTS with horror and it was a fucking excellent adaptation of the board game.
People complaining about Aliens games that aren't like the movie? Well THIS GAME IS PRETTY MUCH EXACTLY WHAT A FAITHFUL ALIENS GAME WOULD BE, but in the warhammer universe. Don't believe me? Play it. Seriously. The PC version even had multiplayer where each player could control their own squad of terminator marines and order them around.

Few remember Hexen 1 and talk about how bad parts of it were, but almost nobody remembers Hexen 2 even though it was such a massive improvement. The puzzles became puzzles instead of switch-hunts, the level design was way more coherent, a good portion of stuff in the game was destroyable, the combat was made more satisfying and the weapons were extremely over the top and fun. The assassin's best weapon, when powered up - would shoot out a homing scarab that would embed in an enemy, then create chains that would shoot out from around the environment into him, and then slowly lift him into the air and pull him apart until he explodes. All this in multiplayer too, which had a "storm the castle" type mode called siege which was kind of like a sort of medieval Team Fortress crossed with Assault from UT.
Plus, it was one of the first early 3D games where the 3D didn't look like ass. For how low-poly things were, everything was clearly distinguishable and it makes the game even look alright now.

FUCKING THIS.
It got poor reviews but the 3D movement and fighting were so fluid and reversals were skill based. I regularly bring it over friends houses to play it.
My sister bought it for the FF characters but it stayed with me for the surprising depth. Hell my friends who never even played any FF games love it.

I remember loving the shit out of the game. I always used to go to LAN and just fly around in the lunar lander for no reason.
This game was an FPS and an RTS combined. When your vehicle was destroyed you would get launched out of it instead of being killed.
The many vehicles it had were just fun to fuck around with.

Metal Fatigue is possibly one of the most underrated RTS games I've ever seen, it's like Total Annihilation if you had to build your giant robots part by part, could sneak tanks behind enemy lines by TUNNELING UNDERGROUND, or fly above the clouds with bombers.
The best feature though is the ability to blow off bits of enemy faction's robots, each race getting different parts, and taking those back to your base to repair and use in YOUR ROBOTS, and there's a fourth unplayable faction with tech you can recover from the maps.
It's pretty fuckin good but i never seen anybody talking about it/even knows it exists.

oddworld games are amazing

This game is pure fucking garbage.
Now bear with me, because it's still underrated. Why? Because its pretty much the only fucking game in the entire god damn universe where you can train a gladiator from the ground up and win your freedom through bloodsport. This game is so bad but its premise is the best shit.
Literally why aren't there a million gladiator games?
I still play the shit out of this game and then cry myself to sleep because the world is cruel.
