If that game had 3rd person view in regular non-turret shooting, people would be dying a lot more.
It depends. Sometimes I play as men, sometimes I play as women. Personally, if I play as an attractive woman character, I find that I am more likely to survive because some sort of protective instinct makes me play a little better. Case and point, in Left 4 Dead, I live longest as Zoey because I care more for saving the chick. If I play as Bill, Louis, or Francis, I tend to die because I'm always trying to save Zoey. It's weird.
tl;dr both because I'm weird.
Maybe because Zoey & Ro both have small hitboxes? Tell you what, Coach is special because his is the largest of the eight.
either one, kinda depends on the mood I am
Male because why would I play Female when I'm Male.
i tend to make my characters black men for some reason, i did it in mass effect 2, guild wars 2, saints row 3, the characters i beat oblivion and skyrim with were redguards, fallout 3 and new vegas, even during the free weekend for defiance i had three characters that were basically carbon copies of each other with minor differences
In fighting games I pick female because I get the weird impression they're faster and easier to control, but I think that stems from being only good with Ling Xiaoyu on Tekken3 years ago

I always play a black guy with silvery grey hair and goatee when I can
Usually male because i am male too
Male on first playthrough, then a female character if the game is good.
I play enough games without character creation where the main character is always a white male, so if there's an option I choose female every time.
That's not really meant to be an excuse, I don't know why I prefer female protagonists in general.
If I played mmos I'd definitely choose female every time just for the free shit
Male usually because that's what I am. Especially in multiplayer games because otherwise I would feel like I'm one of those dudes pretending to be female online.
In SP I don't really care, but I'll usually stick to male unless I have a particular reason to pick female. Like if there are several characters with different abilities and some of them are female. Or like in Deus Ex 2 where I chose female because the male character really looked like a douche.
To all the people saying they can't 'connect' to their character if it's the opposite sex. Is it really that hard? I have no problems with inserting myself into the character regardless of gender/race/etc.
I think most people would actually have an easier time inserting themselves in their character if it was a female.
Anyway, I almost always play as a male - it's not like I play in third person anyway, and even then I don't care much for girls with bowling ball tits and asses that distort spacetime to a concerning degree.
Both. I also tend to play more male in single-player RPGs and more female in MMOs, dunno why really. I guess I'm going more for immersion in singleplayer games and just don't care in MMOs. For example I played male in Skyrim, all Mass Effect games, Dragon Age etc, I play mostly women in WoW, Aion, Tera, Firefall but male in SWToR and Tibia and probably a few else I forgot.
Male usually
But in the games like Pokemon black/white 2, I choose the girl, becouse the male is a walking hairy ballsack with latex
White male is just easier to relate to I guess
Also for some games that's how I vision the character, like Saints Row, I just see that character as a rich pimp dude covered in bitches
I cannot for the life of me see that any other way
Mostly playing as females, but in games where I can make a male looking like myself but more badass, I also play as male.
Female, usually. I wish I was a girl.
stop wishing and make it happen
pls

No, you don't.
You really don't.
Be happy you're a man. It's a lot easier.
what are you talking about
I guess he is refering to the gender equality problems in society and not being paid the same for the same work at most jobs.
Both
Male for first play. Then when I feel like replaying the game I choose female.
I try to make the most feminine possible guy
Female, if there's a choice, so it feels more like it could be me in the game.
If you can customize the character that's even better. I try to make them look like me as much as possible
Male in RPGs. Female in MMORPGs.
I don't know why.
One muscular, talll, massive male. One tall, yet pretty female.
I do those if you can make more than 1 character. If only one, I try to make it look as much like me as possible.
In MMO's I usually get shittons of help from people when I play as the female-character. I guess I have the ability to make them pretty. :v:
Depends on how cool each gender looks in that game. For example: In world of warcraft, male blood elves look hella gay (in a bad way), while female blood elves are pretty cool looking. Same goes for the elves and the horned-elf-things from tera.
Male first/main playthrough. Female every other playthrough.
I typically play as a Male character. Only reasons when given a choice that I ever would and have made female characters are if a class is gender locked or in the case of something like City Of or DC Universe, where the female will be the total opposite of my male character.
I have no qualms about playing a game and the only main character is female though. It had just better be a decent game not just a case of "our game sucks, but at least you can stare at our hot heroines ass and angle the camera to see her tits better!!1".
Usually male, but I tend to choose females in games like Saints Row 3 and GTA IV Multiplayer to avoid confusion with who I am.
Alot of times if the game lets me make my characters face look alot like mine it'll be a male
But sometimes i'll make a female because it gets pretty damn boring playing as a schlang in every damn game made
