Psychological horror. Silent Hill, Penumbra, Amnesia, Fatal Frame, Call of Cthulhu and shizzle like that.
Penumbra and Amnesia
:ohdear:
Psychological horror is the only kind of horror, seeing blood and gore isn't scary, it's just vulgare, and makes my stomach feel bad.
The atmosphere, music and haunting stories are what scares me, not constant shocking and/or showing me what's underneath the human body.

This is not a horror movie. This is an action/comedy with zombies.
The Shining's not a slasher. Its definitely psycological.
at least the book is fuck the movie
usually i like lovecraftian style horror, yknow?
or stuff where like its really tense.
Psychological horrors are most of the time quite interesting as they demand your attention.
And I like any horror film with zombies.
Where does amnesia the dark descent fit in
anything WITHOUT spiders or the such is ok with me.
wow.....the one i voted for is in last place...-.-
Definitely splatter for me. Specifically the ones with gallons of fake blood, over the top dismemberments, and blood and guts everywhere.
e.g. Evil Dead, Dead Alive, Planet Terror, etc

i believe (could be wrong) that its lovecraftian horror?

I'd consider Lovecraftian a subsection of paranormal, with a bit of psychological/suspense thrown into the mix.
I like psychological and apocalyptic. I prefer horror through the medium of video games, rather than movies, because I always want to go in the movie and either do something to stop the serial killer from doing something fucked up to someone, or try to survive an extreme situation. I also only get scared by psychological. I just feel miserable when I watch someone get tortured/raped/cut up.

Yeah there's like, a body count of a whooping one death in the book, and two in the movie. Definitely not a slasher.

How about Surreal horror like some cool David Lynch shit?

Penumbra style, (or rather black plague) no weapons at all, suspense. Where stealth and keeping calm in though situations gets you through while brute forcing will (most likely) get you killed.
