Aaaaargh. Writing an essay on the relationship between ideas and external objects. I've came to the conclusion that no matter what you think "reality" is (for instance, if you follow physicalism, dualism, immaterialism, idealism, solipsism, etc), you're making a presupposition. So basically, no matter what your belief of reality is, you're unjustified in having it. The only position that is totally illegitimate is nihilism - there is something that exists for sure.
However someone who believes in solipsism is no [i]less[/i] analytically justified in holding his beliefs than a physicalist.
Rather a depressing conclusion to come to, imo.
