I've owned a couple Latitudes, my XPS and now my Inspiron 15R. Never had any trouble with them. Although the GPU in my XPS finally started to shit itself, but it's hard to complain after owning it for nearly 5 1/2 years and running it 24/7. This Insprion was a great deal though. Core i3 370M, 4GB DDR3, 500GB HDD, Intel GMA HD (about the same as a 9400M), DVD burner for $499 w/ free shipping. It was supposed to have a 320GB HDD but someone goofed the order up in my favor.

Mine will run L4D2 on low / medium settings, although it ends up chugging a little too much for me. But I didn't purchase my laptop for gaming anyway, that never pays off. And that's also why I build higher powered desktops, that's the real way to play PC games.

My desktop's always taken nowadays by my brother, and for some reason my dad won't let me take it to friends houses for LAN parties, so I'm stuck with my laptop, which performs pretty well. And as far as blu-ray goes, my dad bought a player a while ago, so he's been buying them in blu-ray instead of DVD.

I prefer digital copies of movies anyway. Recently I've been trying to shrink down the physical inventory I have with both movies and games, unless it's something I really like. Then I'll keep a physical copy of it. But I'd never take a gaming oriented laptop over a desktop. Honestly I could have spent another $100 and put the ATI 550V chip in my laptop, and that will play Source games on max with no AA. But like I said, it rarely pays off to do that. I mostly use my laptops for working purposes anyway.

I couldn't be happier with my (gaming-oriented) laptop. I know it's going to be left in the dust within the next few years, but at that point, I'll probably end up buying a new one anyways. And I prefer VHS and Laserdisc over DVD and Blu-Ray(because that's the format most of my favorite movies are in, and I can't be assed to buy DVDs of them) :colbert: [QUOTE=Glitch360;28820924]HP is best No, seriously[/QUOTE] My laptop is an HP, I've never had any issues with it(or my desktop, which is also an HP). I know a few people that have had nothing but trouble with them. But anecdotal evidence doesn't really count for much when there are so many factors involved with computer issues.

They age too fast and they cost too much in comparison to a desktop counterpart. They're also more prone to failure, since there's higher powered components crammed into a smaller space.

I wish I had a laptop. Also, how's Crysis 2?
