Well not really just them existing, but how much stores sell them. They're the kind of fish few people can ACTUALLY take care of, like goldfish. But yet, places like petsmart have tanks with like 100 baby oscars ready for sale at a time.
Though oscars are actually fantastic pets if you have the tank for them. They're so lively and energetic.
Also omg I was worried that a lightning storm killed my headphones/amp/dac. One flash made my screen flash on and off and all I could hear in my headphones was static. Went away after restarting though.

Been sick the last 3 days, finally getting over it, but as a result my nose had become incredibly dry. So when I rubbed my nose a bit ago because of an itch a stream of blood poured from my nose.
Fucking hell.
My cat is too excited and rubbed everything including my hand which ended up bumping the DPI buttons on my mouse. Now I gotta play roulette to get everything back to normal.

To be fair neon tetras are actually very delicate to any change in water quality, they even have a disease just for them iirc. If your parents insist on a replacement get cardinal tetras. Hardier and bigger and they look the same. Maybe just tell them if they want to add more stuff it should be live plants? Maybe they will think that is cool instead of plastic plants.
Also I agree about oscars and stubborn people refusing to reseach shit like flak's old farts. People cram them in 55 gallons and they can't turn around. Also very susceptible to hole in the head from poor water quality and being cramped, if you have seen those sunken patches on their head at the store, they have it and basically start dying slowly. They need 125 gallons per fish full grown. They are cute when small so people buy them for a 20 gallon and then they get almost 2 feet long and yeah. Sometimes fish make me sad. :C
Also I still have a million chores.
