Anarchy Online A constant war between a corporation/Government and essentially a group of weapon toting hippies over a planet, its resources and its people. If you don't pick a side, you are caught in the middle. Regular attacks from aliens are a thing as well. You also essentially cannot die. If you "die", your consciousness is loaded into a clone and other than the "shock" of being transferred to a new body you're good as new.

Rust
Wolfenstein: The New Order or in general any world where the Nazis won World War II. Garry's Mod RP would be pretty bad too.
Mine would have to be Bubsy 3D
Garry's Mod RP would be pretty bad too.
jesus christ i'd kill myself if I had to live in darkrp then I'd get banned for failrp
Sure it's a bit controversial, but from a human point of view being one of the last generation of adults in Childhood's end would be pretty damn sad( book spoiler:[sp]and it'd be 100000% mode sad to be that one last guy that stayed on Earth witnessing it's evaporation[/sp] ). The Overlords are broken too. Actually the sad part is that the outcome described in the book is pretty damn probable.
smb imagine that you are a goon bar and you get fucking gutter stomped on
LISA
Saints Row.
Attack on Titan at any point after the series starts.
dora the explorer
One Punch Man is a fucking terrible world The cities are getting destroyed so often that they just abandoned naming schemes and designate a letter
Azeroth is a prime candidate. It seems like everyday you would run the risk of being infected by some plague; or having a demon invasion on top of your farm. There's always some evil shit going on.
Berserk is like that but you also have to deal with medieval war and famine and witch hunts even when there's no demon shit going on
Maxwell's Realm from Don't Starve.
Warframe. If you're not a Tenno, you're either: A. Under the oppressive rule of the fascist Grineer Empire. B. A brainwashed lackey of the Corpus whose leaders basically worship money, while you work in near slave conditions. C. A victim of a horrible biological weapon/plague which turns you into a hostile walking eldritch abomination and/or body horror. D. In the process of being simultaneously shot, blown up, burned, and cut up into tiny pieces by Tenno. E. All of the above. Also the entire galaxy is constantly harassed by a never-ending plague which occasionally spreads to different planets, so literally nowhere is safe until the Tenno get called in to cut down all of the victims. In fact the plague is so devastating, that your mortal enemies ask you for help on several occasions and give you rewards for exterminating the infestation. If you are a Tenno then MASSIVE SPOILER ALERT about the origins of the Tenno. [sp]You're one of the many people orphaned as a child after a large passenger ship has a freak accident and travels through the void. Only the children aboard that ship survived, everyone else died. Also the event caused you to have massively destructive and uncontrollable powers, so society (the Orokin Empire) figuratively and literally demonize you. Only one nice person named Margulas tries to save you and the other survivors by trying to develop surrogate bodies which would have allowed the Tenno a means of living normally. For the heinous crime of simply objecting to the Orokin Empire's plans to kill the Tenno (literally children), Margulas was executed for apostasy/heresy. Then for their own personal gains, the Orokin implant your consciousness into fucking bio-engineered golems designed for war (Warframes) to kill the Borg- I mean the Sentients. Sometime after winning the war, the Tenno learn of the Orokin Empire's treachery and COMMIT GENOCIDE in a fit of rage by wiping out literally everyone in the entire empire... although it's strongly implied they probably deserved it.[/sp] Non-spoilers: Basically your life sucks, but you're a war machine which can murder-fuck entire legions of enemies; kind of like Spartans in Halo.
Sim city, the world seems simple, you are poor, medium, or rich [editline]24th August 2016[/editline] wait shit
Why not... all of them https://www.fanfiction.net/s/5519031/1/face-the-strange
Inside that one autistic kid's brain
Future Diary world. Why? I don't want to get killed over cellphones/smartphones.
Deus Ex.
Why all the disagrees? Idk about HR/MD, but DX1's world is a shithole. A deliberately uncontrolled plague, a huge secessionist movement in America, massive wealth disparity, a totalitarian government and global conspiracy.
I'm gonna be original here and say Dune. my case: if you're not part of any house you live in a hovel while the rich people zip around on planet sized starships. if you belong to a house, you could be killed at any time because the inter-house wars are fucking brutal and sudden if you're a family member of one of the houses, you live in the lap of luxury... until you're assasinated for one crime or another. if you're lucky to be in the starship guild then you get to get high as fuck and fly a starship, buuuuut you're now chemically dependent on a drug from 1 planet in the entire fucking galaxy
Wellington Wells. Considering what wellies think is a pinata, I think we can see why city's besieged by a plague.
Unless you're the flood
Suprised nobody corrected you. The flood is literally an insane ancient biomass that's mutated in millions of years of agony. It's a species that used to live alongside the forerunners, and had a biological failsafe to prevent the species from going extinct, which fucked up, and created the flood on accident. Being flood ain't too great either

It's a species that used to live alongside the forerunners, and had a biological failsafe to prevent the species from going extinct, which fucked up, and created the flood on accident. Being flood ain't too great either
except in the books... the flood was created from some kind of genetic samples found on a probe from outside the galaxy by the pre-forerunner war humans, it got out of control and mutated into zombies and the humans went on a rampage purging it (like we rightly should have). the forerunners got pissed because they just saw those humans wiping out all life on millions of planets so they blew us up and turned us into cave people and then the forerunners realized what we were doing and instead of just finishing what we were doing they built massive doomsday devices instead and eventually blew themselves up but fortunatly one or two of them believed in humanity and put us in the arks with genetic programming to at least get back to our former glory without having to spend millions of years at it. ya the halo books are a mess another bad future space world to live in would be the Expanse world because holy shit the last book [sp] they fucking destroyed earth the only natural, inhabitable biosphere left in the solar system [/sp] but also a decade of war and economic collapse has left mars's terriforming project failing, the outter belts colonies failing, the jovian and saturn colonies in tatters and the mormons pissed that their generation ship got confiscated from them before they could get the fuck out of dodge oh also, there's a flood analogue that unlike the flood, can break the laws of physics at a whim once its reached a sufficient mass and apparently some kind of eviler alien menace that destroyed the people that made the flood analogue
The world of INSIDE would be a terrifying one to live in...
I dont know, The world of INSIDE has a weird sinister beauty to it. And then there's [sp]The shockwave room[/sp]
SOMA. Either being dead on the surface of the Earth or "alive" in the bottom of the ocean.
stargate if you're human and not living on earth. but also if you live on earth because everybody but you get to fly around in the stars
Gundam universal century: Everyone you know and love is dead, you are fighting a Zaku in a tank. on the flip side, you live in space and the federation out numbers you 3-1 and they have gundams.
Gundam universal century: Everyone you know and love is dead, you are fighting a Zaku in a tank. on the flip side, you live in space and the federation out numbers you 3-1 and they have gundams.
You're underselling the Universal Century. I'd give a rundown of the various series but that'd be pretty long. First you have to survive Zeon, who are space Nazis/Imperial Japan led by space Hitler who claim to be fighting for space-dweller independence but that's just a front for their dictatorship as far as their leaders are concerned. They kill half of humanity, gas a few colonies, drop a colony on Australia, and their Neo-Neo-Neo-Zeon successors proceed to drop three more colonies and almost drop an asteroid on Earth during their twenty year tenure. Despite being space Nazis they somehow manage to keep popping up every ten minutes for the next twenty years to drop more colonies and slaughter more civilians. If you avoid that and survive into the Late UC, you have to survive the Jupiter Empire, Cosmo Babylonia who are space aristocracy, and the Zanscare Empire who are insane cultists trying to take over the world, and all of those factions are their own kinds of batshit wacky. These factions are all created by colony-dwellers because being in space makes you go crazy and get a craving for getting rid of democracy apparently. The plus side is that if you're lucky enough to avoid the other colony-dwellers who have apparently got space madness and are trying to kill you, the colonies are a nice place to live. If you're in the military you have two choices: fight for a villain faction and get killed by an emotionally unstable teenager in a Gundam, or if you're fighting for Zanscare an emotionally stable but very traumatised and highly competent twelve year old in a Gundam, or you can fight for the heroic factions and be a nameless jobber in a GM who explodes upon the mere sight of the enemy in order to make the Gundams look better. On the plus side you're still luckier than the After War timeline in Gundam X, which is basically a what-if scenario of "so what if zeon dropped ALL of the colonies on earth at the end of the war instead of surrendering" and is post-apocalyptic.
