Don't buy it. If you really want to shell out that much for a single rifle, build your own AR. It will out-preform any F2000 on the market. Hell, you could build a top of the line AR15 or even an AR10. Or you could buy an M1A and a decent pistol to go with it.
And the whole Five-seveN debate, they are in fact legal, but they fire an underpowered ammunition that can still penetrate body armor. Just like most other guns laws in effect, the people who wrote that one are too ignorant to write a law that actually makes sense. (ie. barrel shroud lady)
Anyways, my advice would be to leave it alone. Unless you can buy one for much, much less with an optic or some shit, don't even bother.
Really? I swear I heard that they where banned in the US for having too much piercing capability, as well as the 7.62x39 almost being banned for the same reason.
7.62x39 is among the most popular cartridges out there and is out performed by the .308 Winchester, the 7.62x59R, the 8mm Mauser, ect. ect. ect.
The assault rifle ban of 1994 did stem the flow of weapons that fired that cartridge though, but only for a while.

You are right, it is very expensive, but I hate the look of ARs with passion. Whereas the F2000 shoots the same round and uses the same mag but looks completely different.
When I say out performed, I mean vastly outperformed.

why would you go hunting with a assault rifle

Understandable. As long as you're not all hurr hur M16 = jam o' matic hurr hurr then yeah.
There's the option of another weapon though. I'd say an AK-74 variant. They are pretty fun and the ammo is really, really cheap. Otherwise, save the cash.
I still say get an M1A (civie version of the M14) or a FAL or something. You can have just as much fun with that.

Already got an AK47. Had fun times with it. I do like FALs and M14s a bit though. I will look at those.
2300 is kinda a lot for a turn of the moment purchase, but if your wallet can take it, go for it!
EDIT: M1A is the Match Version of the M-14. That will probably cost you a bit of a premium, Other that that check out the Civilian Marksman Program. If you qualify you can get shooting grade M1 Garands for 6 or 700 dollars.
Or an XCR. Those are pretty fun, so I've heard. Don't take my work for it, look into it first.

74 is a bit different. GO FAL, right arm of the freeworld.
The only real reason to buy an FS2000 would be to look cool at the range.
I totally agree with Thomas849, just get a nice AR-15.
ITT: People arguing about guns. Again.
Pick up any AR15
Guns are gay.
Real men use this

If you want to hunt, don't get a .223.

Get this.
:sotw: Fuck yes.
Well, either buy that or an assault rifle (not AR-XX family, any assault rifle) that is appealing to you.

They had that exact revolver for like $550.
Go for something more classic, F2000 isn't something that strike me as being very useful. I would go for one of the follow:
-AR15
-Mosin Nagant
-FN FAL
-Steyr AUG
-PSD
If you want a revolver go for something like my Smith & Wesson No. 3 Revolver,(Russian Model), a very reliable single action .44 with a Top break action.

God damn, this.
I personally think top-break revolvers are fucking sexy and badass.

I literally spit out the water I was drinking when I saw that.
Why would you want a gun :geno:
Besides, surly a P90 would be better?
Or is it FN P90 for civilians? =s
You're a fucking idiot. I hope you know that all legally sold rifles in the United States are semi-auto only, fully-automatic weapons, unless they fire some sort of pistol ammunition, are 100% illegal.
Okay, I went by the neighborhood used and new gun store today, and they had a brand new FN Herstal F2000 there for $2300. It came with an extra mag and all the regular crap like a manual and trigger lock. I want to know if you guys think this is a good purchase or not. Gun owners and avid shooters only please, spare me the video game talk.
If you want to blow $2300 go ahead.
I had the choice of either that or an MSAR and I got the MSAR instead. I'm glad I did because it actually takes advantage of being a bullpup unlike the F2000 which is a big bulky mess. I can sling my MSAR and still get in and out of a car without much trouble, it's so compact.

I have a light on it now, old picture.
It out shoots my AR15 in every way. And my AR15 has a heavy barrel, match trigger, and a bunch of gunsmith work done to it...

Ammunition type doesn't matter.
For all intensive purposes all automatic weapons are banned in the US.
Transferable pre-1986 made/imported weapons can be bought with the proper paper work and tax stamps. And you can buy newly made/imported fully automatic weapons if you have a manufacturer license.
It's really not worth it in the US, so much of the country is open and if some war did break out here, people with bolt action hunting rifles would be doing the best of anyone.
Well if you have the money, why not.
It might not be the best gun ever, but if you just collect/use guns for fun and hobby, then feeling and looks count more. Unless you are going to war or something, performance shouldn't be your top priority.
I thought these were illegal for civvies.
