That's the scary thing; I don't know how to activate Safe Mode on this laptop, and my Bios settings are all locked with a password I don't know. That password bothers me, this computer is mine alone and I should know the password to everything on it.

the menu just comes up the next time you start it after an unexpected shutdown

The menu gives me "boot priorities" and "bios settings". I once activated Safe Mode, but I don't remember how.
