A top down DnD RPG much like Baldur's Gate II except with balance and lots and lots of content The original game had loads of content but I want mooooore either that or just a bigger better version of The Nameless Mod. For those who don't know, it's a Deus Ex full story mod. If you loved DX1 and haven't played TNM, you should totally like play it nao
Do you mod your Baldur's gate games? I've played lots of solo characters with the BWP. For the record also Icewind Dale's getting its enhanced version to be released soonish.
Something similar to The Legend of Zelda. Just an Open World game with amazing locations and puzzles and stuff. Something that doesn't rely on RPG elements like leveling up or reinforcing weapons and armor, but instead gaining new items to help you progress and overcome obstacles.
I was about to post some gameplay features but Far Cry 3 and 4 are very close. Truth be told, that's my ideal FPS but I'm actually more interested in games from Third-Person-View. Mainly because you can see your character. So yeah, TPS with upgrade system, cool weapons, possibly with different ammo types but surely with upgrades, too. No weapons of the same weapon type unless their function is different (progression is done by upgrades, not by finding new better weapons). About the upgrades, no "+5% for critical strike", just clear bonuses (+health, +armor, +damage,...) or new abilities and weapon upgrades are visible on the weapon (if you wish, another customization option). Focus on minimun HUD or simple design. Since I'm coming from Dead Space games and recent The Evil Within sci-fi or scary settings is alright as long as it's done right but I'm more interested in variety of enemies and big boss fights. Ability to customize your character and even weapons without making sacrifice to your stats. Sure, it might be weird you can take as many hits in normal clothes than in full armor but this is a video game, not everything needs to be logical. Of course the customization options should be big. Add a nice story, characters and music and I'm happy. Again it doesn't have to be stricly scary game with monsters, game like this set in futuristic world with some noire elements would be lovely, too. As for the size of the game world I'm fine with larger environments but I wouldn't go too far because I don't really explore every inch of it. Arkham City has an ideal size for me but I'm sure some people find it small. Still, for the type of game I'm looking for I see a more linear experience that's driven by story. A good balance would a small portion that gives you number of ways to explore the location. Far Cry 4, Metal Gear Solid 5 and hopefully Cyberpunk 2077 might be my ideal games.
Something based in the medieval ages (historically, not fictionalized) and doesnt have magic and fantasy bullshit sourrounding it, I know we have chivalry and warband but it would be great to see something like Skyrim but with a historical setting.
The Trench: 1916 is what hes talking about for anyone wondering http://www.thetrench1916.com/
Woah woah hold the phone. A shooter in the FIRST world war? I just realised how rare that is, everything is always WW2 or ultra-modern.
SS13 without lag and the Byond community would be the best game ever.

super smash bros melee with functional online play (with no delay) and ranking
a FPS, with unlimited level sizes, open world, city, dynamic weather
Peter Molydeux comes up with some good ideas every now and then, although oftentimes it has already been done.
Anything with MIDI.

Freelancer's space element with way, way more depth and complexity mixed with Fallout 3/NV style gameplay when you dock at space stations or land on planets/etc, and F03/NV style companions as crew on board your ship you can take with you as you leave it Also, Flagship.

I have a lot of "ideal" games based on what mood I'm in/what genre I'm currently invested in, but I guess I'll post my most recent one. Basically, an Aliens game where you get dropped into an open-ended Hadley's Hope. Maybe a retelling of the movie, but your squadmates have good AI and can be ordered around (or replaced by coop partners). You move around and complete objectives during the day, and if you run into aliens you have to avoid them (like Alien Isolation) or kill them at the risk of wasting precious ammo and alerting the hive to your position. But then you have to find a place to hunker down and fortify before nightfall (set up sentry guns, weld doors and vent entrances, move items to make barricades, etc.) and survive the night against the horde of enemies that want to murder you. And your AI squadmates should stay dead once killed. Alternatively, STALKER with Co-op.
My ideal vidyagame would basically be a car simulator but fucking huge and amazing It'd be a cross of NFS Most Wanted,Street Legal Racing Redline,Forza Horizon and Gran Turismo. You can own your own car and modify every little bit of it. You can open the hood and replace every single engine part,or replace your interior parts. You can have different jobs, like pro racedriver, rally driver, truck driver, cab driver, street racer, police pursuit car driver, car reviewer (like Top Gear) etc. There'd be toggleable options for how advanced the game'd be. You can toggle wear on your car, random breakdowns and fuel consumption. You could go to car shows and show off your car. You could go to trackdays. You could fuck around with the police. You can travel around the world. You can start out with a second-hand rusty Golf and end up with lots of garages filled with the newest supercars and concept cars. It'd be fucking amazing.
Reminds me that I'd really like a Robocraft type of game, except not a grindfest. Maybe something like that old Discovery Channel show, Junkyard Wars, where you'd build your vehicle out of irregular pieces of junk and then battle other guys. Something like Garry's Mod, except less sandboxy and perhaps with some possibilities for deforming/cutting the junk.
A game set in a post-apocalyptic 1:1 scale of New York City with dynamic weather, permanent and procedural destruction, and a faction system that parallels Planetside 2, with territorial control and the control of resources being the main catalyst for fighting in the game. You can create your own factions with an unparalleled degree of customizability, you can create your character with advanced development tools and either choose to be part of a faction or become an independent, the only safe haven for them being permanently neutral areas or areas policed by a corporation still in de-jure control of the city. Combat is brutally realistic. Guns sound loud and terrifying, bullets do not punch away at an arbitrary health system but instead the severity of injuries depend on where you are hit, the type of gun you were shot with, and the possibility of treating it. If the wound cannot be treated, the only options are to fight it out until you bleed to death, get shot so much that you are incapacitated, or shoot yourself so you can respawn. Armour and clothing are also affected by the bullets, making looting for clothing a careful endeavour that requires quite the amount of precision. The player also has their inventory on their body so that when you press the inventory key, the player looks down. All items that are obscured by articles of clothing are highlighted. Reloading a weapon also requires you to look down and either discard the magazine you have in your hand currently or put it in a spare pocket, and then grab a fresh magazine. There is also no levelling system, so the player's success is dependent on the skill in which they can use their gear that has been designated to soldiers by their faction or, if they are independent, they have found off of other people. It's probably going to stay an 'ideal' game, though. Not really practical to make a game like that.
super smash bros melee with functional online play (with no delay) and ranking
gonna have to second this. i'd be hooked for days tho
A FPS/RTS hybrid that actually plays like FPS and RTS at the same time.
A FPS/RTS hybrid that actually plays like FPS and RTS at the same time.
Battlezone?
A FPS/RTS hybrid that actually plays like FPS and RTS at the same time.
Natural Selection 2?
NS2 doesn't play like RTS and FPS at the same time though.
Any physics sandbox game that doesn't lag when you go large scale (won't happen)
NS2 doesn't play like RTS and FPS at the same time though.
I suggest Space Hulk DOS or Space Hulk VOTBA, both are FPS/RTS hybrids where you can control space marines individually and/or order them around.
Imagine Saints Row 4 with even more shit I can do. [editline]19th October 2014[/editline]
A FPS/RTS hybrid that actually plays like FPS and RTS at the same time.
Battlefield: Modern Combat or w/e?
An open world zombie survival game with the zombies being popular internet memes and you have to use the power of 9gag to destroy them.
Mechs vs Wizards Mechs and wizards do battle over valuable resources such as corn in a team based multiplayer action FPS. There would be a focus on strategic combat between asymmetric teams made up of custom classes with procedurally generated names and appearances. There would also be a 0.08% chance that your character will be voiced by Michael Caine, giving you an invisible buff to reload speed and corn power absorption delta.
I think that EVE Online's player-driven world is pretty kickass, but the dropdown menus and rail-based ship movement really makes the game unbearably boring to play. Plus, combat is basically down to who brought the most powerful ship. It would be amazing if you could customize your ships like in FTL: Faster Than Light. Warp out of the solar system while the battle is raging, repair your destroyed weaponry, and jump back into the fray. Then you could soar around in three glorious dimensions in a fashion akin to Space Engineers, divebombing more powerful vessels before speeding away. Maybe you could buy a torn-up hulk of a cruiser on the global market, overhaul it, and bring your massive ship to bear against enemy fleets like the Pillar of Autumn from Halo. Once the battle's done, you could invite your fellow captains aboard and chat while strolling around your bloodied cruiser in first-person view. EVE Online is so boring in its current state, I had to literally force myself to play it. I had some ideas for being a spacefaring journalist, as the massive battles and fascinating stories are the only things that catch my eye, but the interface and copy-pasted world is confusing enough to give me a migraine. If I knew someone who wanted to do something similar, I might give it a try.
Pretty much exactly Dragons Dogma, but with more variety in areas (snow, wasteland, swaps etc.) and more immersive roleplay like in Dragon Age: Origins. I would waste so much time on that.
