Everyone LOVED THAT GAME but I never had any interest and I've watched friends play most of it back when it was fairly new and it just looked boring.
The first time I heard about it I thought my friend was making up bullshit stories.
Dark Messiah MAM has the best combat ever.
Bioshock Infinite's story was not nearly as interesting as Bioshock 1's.
ArmA 2/OA isn't really the paragon of milsim/tactical gaming that people make it out to be.
While somewhat fun to play, it was largely overrated in my eyes because I felt like it couldn't decide whether it wanted to be a simulator, or a "game." The campaign was bad, the AI wasn't really good, and the world-interactivity - while comprehensive - was tedious. The player-character movement was very clunky as well, making it almost impossible to navigate through close quarters with precision or speed, effectively precluding urban ops of any serious kind.
To counteract these criticisms, lots of people would raise the fact that the ArmA series have traditionally had a massive modding community to support it, which just makes my appraisal of the game even more pessimistic since the vast majority of the content out there is either fluff or shit, and it just goes to demonstrate that the base product wasn't even that good to begin with (I can't even install any add-ons due to some weird glitch). The editor is the game's saving grace, although short of making use of its esoteric scripting tool, you can't do much with it besides creating tedious set-piece battles that have no operational significance to each other.
That leaves the multiplayer aspect, which I don't have much to say about, only because of the sheer paucity of players that I am able to play with.
If you wanna satisfy your modern milsim jones, buy Combat Mission: Shock Force (even if it's an RTS and the multiplayer community is practically non-existent).
Silent Hill Homecoming isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be.
I mean, it's not extraordinary or anything, but it's by no means awful.
Have you even played silent hill 1,2,3 or 4?
[editline]8th August 2013[/editline]
Because you really wouldn't be saying that if you did.

It was pretty terrible. Better than Downpour, but that's not saying much.

ACE+ACRE makes it pretty much that
It was pretty terrible. Better than Downpour, but that's not saying much.
Downpour at least tried being true to the original whereas homecoming was like fan fiction written by someone who only saw the movies.
I kinda liked the story in Homecoming, but I guess I've fallen for cheesy/bad written stuff before (see the first Mass Effect novel, Revelations I think)
The first Mass Effect had great writing most of the time what are you talking about
Oops, I meant the first Mass Effect Novel :v:
the writing in the game is fine, but not amazing, although I haven't finished the game so don't listen to me
Well if they completely removed anything to do with silent hill from homecoming it would have been way better I think.
And polished the combat and the writing.
I miss TF2 before it came F2P and all this other stuff added to it.

"Uncommon Opinions"
For example: I never really cared about the F2P transition. I paid money for the Orange Box and when it got the economy and later became F2P I continued to enjoy it equal amounts.
Seriously, the only way F2P affected me was that now everyone was arguing about it. I didn't even notice a decline in player quality.
The jokes in Borderlands 2 was bad and unfunny and started to piss me off. Resident Evil 5 is a pretty good game even if it isn't a survival horror, same with RE:6. I never really liked Mortal Kombat 1-3 (The 2011 version should have stayed 3D fighting, only faster than the others).
i'm really exited for saints row 4 and i think it will be better than GTA V
i liked bioshock 2 almost as much as i liked bioshock 1
hotline miami is great but it's not that hard, it's usually just a matter of learning the enemy AI, which really isn't that advanced or hard
I feel sad when people say "CoD is shit" because I know that the first 2 games were awesome. And the first Modern Warfare hit the nail on its head with the engaging characters (nearly cried at the ending) and the soundtrack was so well-done. Also loved the sniper missions in Pripyat.

World At War was great too, Black Ops aswell. MW2 and MW3 were awful in my opinion and I haven't played BO2 so I can't judge that.
In my opinion, I think almost all of the CoDs are at least "good", it's mostly the fanbase that ruins it. Except for MW3. That was bad. No one can deny that.
any fanbase can make or break a franchise IMO.
and an unpopular opinion, I don't find Deadpool's humor in the Deadpool game funny,I think it's too try hard and cringe worthy.
this is also coming from someone that never really read any Deadpool comics, I've just watched a few video clips of him.
Splitscreen/local multiplayer > Online multiplayer
I also really like when I don't need to use Steam to use my games.
(Steam is blocked at my school, which sucks.)

Black Ops 2 is at least on par with CoD4 for singleplayer IMO. The multiplayer has too many killstreaks and so many guns that most of them become worthless. If they released a new CoD with all the best maps from previous games, fewer killstreaks (none of this 'kill everyone on the map' bullshit), and gun balance a la CoD4 I'd play the shit out of it.
People need to stop harping on about how "great" CoD4 was because in most aspects it was about as bad as the rest of the Modern Warfare series and it's largely what gave rise to these crappy modern military shooters.
[editline]10th August 2013[/editline]
Also, this isn't so much an opinion as it is a musing, but I wonder: have any of the people who complain about Nintendo being repetitive seen the Counter-Strike franchise?
got cod4 or cod5 from some online secret santa and traded it for legend of grimrock :v:

Modern Warfare was largely inspired by the interrogation scenes in Black (Which were pretty much stolen for CoD: Black Ops) and the narrative/gameplay of a little known game called Shadow Ops: Red Mercury.
The plot of Shadow Ops focuses on stopping a nuke from detonating in Paris. Sound familiar?
All modern military shooters can be traced back to these two games and 90's action films like The Rock.
halo 4 should be complimented on its style rather than harped upon for not being "realistic" enough.

I don't get why people say it was the best in terms of multiplayer. Everyone I played with, and myself, thought it was really badly balanced, and the spawning issue was still in the game.

I don't know why they added the damn STG44 in CoD4. I mean, what on earth is the point? It is literally the weakest assault rifle both stat-wise and how you can't put attachments on it.
My favourite multiplayer Cod was 2, had some good times with that game untill most players emigrated to modern warfare, not that I minded too much it was also a good game.
halo 4 should be complimented on its style rather than harped upon for not being "realistic" enough.
The problem with its style is that it took ten years of an established art style and took a big wet dump on it.

because 3 games being released is the equivalent of like 14 mario games
