i'm not a fan of animal crossing. sure theres a lot to do but i think its made to be time consuming and it feels like a chore [editline]28th July 2013[/editline] i prefer casual games like plants vs zombies
never really enjoyed the pokemon games
To be honest, Pokemon is something that you play as a kid. I started playing Diamond again and I think it's boring as shit now. I recall saying this before but Brutal Doom is fucking overrated. To be fair, it's a lot harder to make gore satisfying to look at with a whole dimension missing on the enemies but that doesn't excuse the overcomplication of it. Gore in games should be simple and not shoved in the spotlight as it straight up is in Brutal Doom. Take Soldier of Fortune, for example, it's a violent game with all the disemboweling, genital mutilation and corpse defiling but there it feels somewhat delicate with all the attention to detail and small but cruel things you can do to your enemies. With Brutal Doom it's too much blood and too much ripping stuff apart without realizing that even something as simple as shooting a guy in the dick and watching him jump around like a sissy before dying is infinitely more enjoyable than punching a guy and then watching a immersion-breaking 10-second animation of your character ripping said guy into pieces, complete with 20 different sprites for blood.
Oh also I think Payday is boring.
Oh also I think Payday is boring.
I'll half agree here, it's entirely dependent on the people you're playing with, on it's own the game is boring and sub-par at best but to most people it coasts by on the fact that you can play with friends.
I genuinely enjoyed skyrim and bioshock infinite
I think Killing Floor is a pretty shit game that isn't very fun at all, even with friends, because chances are you'll have one kill for every one of their ten. Also there's about no fucking content and its repetitive. Payday was the same way, don't know about 2.
i've tried to play the final fantasy games but i just find them so incredibly boring. i also tried kindom hearts 1 and felt insulted. the intro cutscene was SO bad, then they tried to play off the most obnoxious tutorial of all time as part of the story. i hear that kingdom hearts 2 is a lot better though, and i haven't tried that yet
Which Final Fantasy games have you tried? [editline]28th July 2013[/editline]
The PS4 doesn't interest me I like Pikmin 2 more than the first Wario World was actually pretty fun I like Twin Snakes more than MGS1
lol, opposite for me. I like the original MGS a lot more. I found twin snakes more boring, if it wasn't that then the biggest problem would be that the game was too easy.
Which Final Fantasy games have you tried?
3 (6?) and 9. the story seems fine but i'm not a fan of the combat
3 (6?) and 9. the story seems fine but i'm not a fan of the combat
Try FFX, I'd say the battle system is more refined and it has a different leveling up system, which is better (sphere grid). It's just a recommendation though. It's MY favorite RPG. Chrono Trigger ranks high as well, and Chrono Cross.
I grew out of Pokemon after Gen 4, never bothered with it since. I'm not hard-leaning to nostalgia purists or die hard fan. I think Runescape was more relaxing than boring, and it fulfilled the sort of "escape" that most games are out to pioneer. It was a wonderful distraction at one point, but it's definitely a guilty feeling looking back on it. All Raymans that aren't Ravin' Rabbids are good. Even the educational game and the isometric Gameboy games were good. All Mega Man games are good. That includes the arcade games, Mega Man Zero, etc. In fact, all of MMZ was fucking awesome and it's my favorite, I prefer it over X and the original. I liked playing the RPG spinoff. I even played Battle Chip Challenge, AND LIKED IT. Any other Mega Man fans would probably lynch me for that. I played it up to Battle Network and even Starforce. I can't get enough of it, no matter how cheesy and horrible it gets. I don't see the problem with modded STALKER the first time. I guess I'm not hardcore enough to enjoy it, but the dizzying factor of the game and its seeming aged-ness completely turned me off, so I installed the STALKER complete mod and enjoyed it more. Even San Andreas aged better. I would not play League of Legends if it weren't for friends. I don't find the game that enjoyable, but I see the appeal in both Dota and LoL, having played both of them. It's an acquired taste, really. It's a lot like Runescape for me, only with more action. I find most Zelda games impossible without resorting to a guide. I got stuck on it a lot, and I wander around a lot unable to progress. It's amazing when you do figure out something yourself, but it takes a while for me to figure it out. I've only completed Wind Waker, and that was with a guide. I still haven't finished Twilight Princess or Ocarina of Time. I enjoyed Half Life LAN deathmatches more than the base game. I don't think Spyro completely died after the big three. The big three were definitely hallmarks of platforming structure and gameplay. Enter the Dragonfly was definitely shit, but Hero's Tail was passable. One of the GBA games was also okay. After the Legend series, it was dead. Skylanders drove the nail into the coffin. Likewise, I enjoyed Sonic Heroes, and I played a fair share of the original Sonic Riders. Shadow the Hedgehog also wasn't absolutely terrible, although the character of Shadow is well, generic, and even more tarnished by shitty fanfics and original characters. That might be marred by years of not playing it. I played a lot of the Cartoon Network flash games growing up, and they actually got really good. Sure, the early ones sucked, but they matured with other flash games. I even made my dad pay for the premium thing which got you extra stuff in some of them. I honestly have a hard time believing that actually happened, seeing as those versions don't seem to exist/are no longer accessible. Before growing out of cartoons I played the Foster's Home game where you get to create your own imaginary friend, which also disappeared into eternity. They actually had some good production value. And the Edd Ed and Eddy game for the Gamecube, now that was a goddamn good game. Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven is by far one of the best crime games to ever exist. It aged so damn well, and Mafia II is great too. I wouldn't say it surpasses GTA, but it definitely rivals it, and of all games that capture the atmosphere of movies like Goodfellas and The Godfather, they're top notch, if not the best. The stories of Lost Heaven and Empire Bay are unforgettable, and I never found the gameplay to be grating nor generic. I liked Fallout 3, having never played the original games. For how it stands alone, it's a solid experience and I would gladly put hours into it again. Mothership Zeta sucked, but The Pitt was damn good. On the other hand, I got tired of Oblivion fairly quickly, and failed to see the fun factor in it, despite it also being developed by Bethesda. Borderlands is insufferably terrible when you're playing it alone. It acted as a sort of conversational medium when I played it with a good friend of mine. We just talked about the future while mindlessly mowing down enemies. Dead Island is also guilty of this shittiness, but it is far too flawed, and I've never thought about revisiting it. Zombie Panic!: Source was the best source mod I've ever played. Well-developed and well structured, although when they "ironed out the flaws," it completely brought the game out of its golden age. It was in its prime when the more toxic elements of its gameplay were still in effect, since it rewarded vets and taught new players to shape up as quickly as possible. I can't wait for Contagion. Call of Duty 2 by far and large remains my favorite Call of Duty games, not even really due to nostalgia. The fact that you could play the Battle of Stalingrad from a Soviet perspective completely drove the game to legendary status for me. The story behind games like Trouble in Terrorist Town and DayZ make me feel like I'm (potentially) participating in a grand narrative. The gameplay is pardonable just for that.
Skyrim is an overrated borefest

Medic role is awesome to play. I just get a sense of satisfaction from a few things from it: I help others live longer and by extension let them keep up the fight. I don't need to expose myself to gunfire as much, letting me live longer, thus the above. Weird satisfaction of seeing the healthbar fill up as the player receives the heals. Free points a lot of the time. Sometimes they actually take time to actually thank you for the help.
Borderlands 2 is unbelievably boring.

Metro 2033 had really satisfying weapons and gunplay. Sometimes it was hard to make out if you actually hit your target and the aiming was floaty. To me it added a lot to the atmosphere and survival aspect, the mutants were a lot more threatening that way, especially when you compare it to Last Light.
i quite like the chrono games. i haven't played chrono cross in a while but i remember liking it, at least. it doesn't have random battles like in FF does it?
No. But I guess random battles is what makes FF what it is huh? Like I said, try FFX, it's really good.
I've already sorta hinted at this: but Final Fantasy VII never deserved any of its fame, compared to the previous three titles in the franchise it was mediocre at best, the only area it was superior was graphics as it was the first to use 3D models rather than 2D sprites.
No. But I guess random battles is what makes FF what it is huh? Like I said, try FFX, it's really good.
random battles really stress me out. and the FF battle system gives me headaches for some reason.
i have never really played any legend of zelda game, and i think they are kinda overrated
i have never really played any legend of zelda game, and i think they are kinda overrated
Its mainly to do with childhood nostalgia that people lose their shit over Nintendo
i have never really played any legend of zelda game, and i think they are kinda overrated
how would you know if you haven't played any of them? [editline]28th July 2013[/editline]
Its mainly to do with childhood nostalgia that people lose their shit over Nintendo
i've played and enjoyed plenty of nintendo games that i didn't even know existed when i was a kid. super metroid is a recent example
Borderlands 1 was repetitive and became boring after 5 hours of gameplay. Also, The Last of Us wasn't that amazing.

I find that co-operative is the only way I can enjoy multiplayer games these days.
GTA V and Half-Life 3 will not live up to the hype.
Looking at the hopes in the GTA V thread, definetly not. I mean, I'm exited for it, but I look at it realistically. It will probably be an improved GTA IV, and be a revolution as for GTA games, but honestly some of the hopes in there just aren't going to happen. Some things will stay the same way they were in GTA IV.
i prefer css over 1.6 and go
I prefer realism in games such as PR, Arma, RO, etc.. where everything is realistic especially with a lot of little things and it just makes the game feel really deep and rewarding, no instant scoping, no taking a bullet and waiting until your screen stops being red, just pure fun and tons of immersion especially when your under fire. I hate it when games aren't like that especially in regards to taking bullets, I don't understand why some people on FP complain about games that you die in a shot or 2, I couldn't stand it in BC2 when I would put tons of bullets into a guy and he would just run away and wait until his health came back and then just run back to attack me. I also hate progression systems in multiplayer games, instead of choosing a gun they like and use that and just play and enjoy the game it instead gets them to focus on unlocking stuff for guns and to level up, I've seen posts where people say the only reason they played BF2 for so long was because of the progression system and how long it took, if your only playing to get new levels and not because you actually enjoy the game and want to play more then whats the point? Seriously just give everyone a gun and whatever equipment to choose from if your going to have customization and that's it, now let the better player/team win and not the people who have the better scopes or perks to reload faster. Like I don't get devs, focus more time on making your game more fun so people want to play it more instead of a system that tries to addict your players into playing more for unlocks. Jesus I hate seeing those people in RO2 where they blow up their own teams bunkers and pillboxes with satchel charges so they get points, I just sit in the explosion and get team killed so there is a chance the guy get's session banned for team killing because now we lost useful defenses because "I need points!!!" Red Orchestra 1 was perfect with this, sure you got points for killing people but you got one damn point, you got 5 points for resupplying machine gunners and got a lot more points for capturing objectives, so really unless you were a sniper or commander who was really good the only way you were on the top was due to actually trying to win the match. Sure you got tons of people following one MG spamming the resupply button but at least it helps out the team and it wasn't them blowing up their own defenses.
Reminds me how I want the "score" removed from Killing Floor. People are just competitive by nature it seems, they always try to have the most kills.
DayZ is a shitty mod for some nerdy-ass game called ArmA 2, War~ Infestation just owns it.
