DLC seriously isn't as bad as people make it out to be, and the weird masturbation that commences when a developer just goes like "we aren't going to make any DLC at all everrrrr!!!!!" is atrocious. Fuck developers for wanting to work on their games post release and make expansions and ask for 5-15 bucks in return.
The only time DLC as a concept gets terrible is in like SR3 where you have to pay for cheats such as Invincibility, Infinite Ammo and Infinite Car Mass. And DLC that's just locked on the disk coughcapcomcough.
Starcraft is seriously overhyped.
"Look ma factions are completrly different and perfectly balanced, it must be the perfect game!
I tried to play it and it was casual (which is not a bad thing), but felt boring, and I still can't understand the hype around it. It is a good game, but not perfect. Every game has some flaws.

agreed, as long as it isn't overpriced. i've bought magicka and killing floor DLC and been happy to support the devs, and more recently TWD 400 days which was pretty much worth the same price as the individual episodes would've been anyway, and i think it was longer aswell

If you are talking about starcraft 2 then I agree.
It basically ran on hype that it was the sequel to starcraft for almost 2 years. By 2012 Starcraft 2 had lost more than 3 quarter's of it's peak viewer base.
I just want the f2p model to die because it RUINS games
just absolutely fucking shits on them
Blacklight retribution is a fun game, I just feel like playing it sometimes, what I don't feel like doing is launching the game only to find out I need to remember my stupid login I made months ago and when I finally do get into the game I'm stuck with beginner content because I don't want to give real money for some fake weapon parts
I really haven't played much but it really looks like getting something beyond the starters kit will take hours upon hours of boring grind
I just want to buy a game and have all the content, I don't want to be locked out of content thats in the game, DLC is bad but the f2p model has no shame at all and will literally lock away 90% of the content
Not really about a specific games, but the most unpopular opinion I have touching the subject of games is that its causing some kids or teenagers, maybe older, to be violent. I don't think its causing normal and healthy kids to be violent, but helping those who aren't healthy, and kind of disconnecting them with reality in some way.
I often think pixelated 2D graphics are better than 3D graphics, if done right. I think 2D graphics can channel much, much more emotion than 3D graphics.
Train Simulator 2013 is a good game.
Minecraft a huge pile of depressing amount of wasted potential, and makes the game boring to play because you get reminded of all the potential lost.
Little Inferno, one of my favorite games. Seems like its not very popular though.
I often think equal amount of work was put into a game that's pure fun than into a game that has a lot of emotion, story and other things that people would use as an example when showing someone that games can be art.
Spongebob: Battle for Bikini Bottom is a masterpiece of a game, an example of a nearly-perfect platformer.
I know this is an extremely late response to the OP, but goddamn yes. The spongebob squarepants movie video game was also excellent, mainly because it was the same exact game in a different skin (battle for bikini bottom was still better but whatever). The level design was just amazing, and I think it rivals even the best modern 3D platformers like super mario galaxy. In fact the variety and grand scope of it is 20 times anything Nintendo has released.
Edit:
I also think little inferno was great; however, I cannot stand the waiting around. It's not like I lack patience or anything, I just don't want to wait 10 fucking minutes to burn an internet. If it wasn't for that, I would probably try to complete it.

I think it depends on the size of the DLC and the quality of the content.
You can tell when a company puts in effort into their DLCs/Expansions. For example, I enjoyed Gods & Kings for Civ V and Brave New World is getting a good reputation too. I would say those were good. However, then I look at games like The Sims where simple features like owning fucking pets are not part of the base game, or Shogun II (as much as I love it) where a shitload of clans that should have been in the base game were sold as DLC, it becomes obvious that they simply wanted money. I also don't mind DLC if it is over inconsequential stuff like the spritepacks in Paradox games.
DLC is only good when it is actually a developer making things after the fact. When they plan out DLC or even make it before the games release, that is just milking for money. Maybe you folks get money form your parents or some shit, but I barely have enough to buy 3 games a year at full price, let alone their DLCs.
Pretty much of all what Nintendo puts out does not interest me in the slightest.
Black Ops 2 had extremely fun SP
Metal Gear Solid 3 is the best in the series.
I can't stand nostalgia for the sake of nostalgia. Retreads, references, etc.
Yeah, it's cute when used sparingly, but it shouldn't ever be a replacement for new ideas.
I hate shotguns in games that have this loud, reverberating boom
if this is like some singleplayer game or whatever where the shotgun's strong enough to separate a man's upper torso from the rest of him, then I'm fine and dandy with that loud gunshot noise
but if it's a game where the shotgun takes two or more shots to kill, which is often the case in games where the shotgun actually functions reasonably, ie a great close-ranged weapon and a decent mid-ranged weapon, well then that gunshot noise just fucks with my expectations
I feel Half Life 2 is extremely overrated for what it appears to be. If someone offers their opinion on why they didn't enjoy it or why they don't like it then you're bound to either receive 50 dumbs or you'll be attacked for having a negative opinion of the game. The problem is it appears that some people don't understand that different people have a different opinion to them.
I actually loved the gunplay in bioshock infinite, the guns handled like old timey guns which added to the experience.

In other words NSMB/3d Land
The best example of a masterpiece franchise where each game is unique, fun, and playable is [sp]Touhou[/sp].
I hate how in the majority of games shotguns have a range of in front of your face or it won't hit anything at all.
No matter what anyone says, CoD:World at War will always have the best campaign that I ever played from any of the cod games.
Even though Mercenaries 2 felt really unpolished and rushed at some points, I really liked the gameplay.

I would not now about how the sequel handled pets, but the Unleashed expansion pack for the original sims was at least pretty damn impressive. (Considering that it not only added pets for the first time, but also expanded the original neighbourhood vastly, added a shit ton of new furniture, and added new shop areas.
[editline]1st August 2013[/editline]
Hell. There is not a single one of the original the sims expansionpacks that felt like a rip-of to me. They really lived up to the very definition of an expansionpack.
HL2 needed more exotic/alien enemies. I missed houndeyes and bullsquids.
I don't know how uncommon this opinion is, but I liked HL1 WAY more than I liked HL2. HL2 is a really solid game, but it's missing the "comical" and colorful nature that HL1 did so well.
Niko Bellic is the best GTA character but IV was a huge step down from SA.
I don't understand why people think Metal Gear Solid is a really good game.
Niko Bellic is the best GTA character but IV was a huge step down from SA.
The world feels so empty, there is not much customization or sidemissions that you can do. It offers not a lot of activities beside of the main missions.
Saints Row 2 did this so great.

This, and the same for the Goldsrc engine. It is with out a doubt the inferior engine, but I love it to bits. I can't explain it, I just feel happy when ever I play a game/map/mod built with it.
TF2 is the only case were F2P is done right
TF2 has a good F2P model, but a terrible implementation.
What Valve did to TF2 is like turning a Rolls Royce into a Monstertruck. Sure it's still the same car and a lot of people think the change only made it more awesome, but there was never anything wrong with the car to begin with and the people who liked the original car can't really enjoy it in the same way anymore.
I fucking hate what has become of World Of Warcraft
I never liked Fallout 3 and I thought GTA IV was very disappointing.
I rather want Yakuza 5 to be released in Europe over GTA V.
Niko Bellic is the best GTA character but IV was a huge step down from SA.
The thing about GTA 4 was that although a lot of good things SA had were missing, the step forward was in a slightly different direction - towards the improvement of graphics and the solidity of gameplay. I feel like they did this to create something revolutionary, something that would leave its competitors in the dust. If they hadn't done that, GTA 4 would have smaller improvement in its engine from SA, and the game would still have shittier graphics and less groundbreaking features like the implementation of the Havok engine and the Euphoria physics.
It feels like they did it so that for GTA 5 they would have no need to heavily rework the engine and instead focus on other features that the fans like in the game.
I'd say it was rather a smaller step forward in terms of actual gameplay from SA, but that step would fuel the bigger step they will make with GTA 5. At least this is what I think and hope.
Bioshock Infinite is overrated
I like Vice City the most out of all GTAs
