Nope, only saw a few minutes of gameplay over at a friends house, he didn't like it, I told him that he should wait to have played a bit before judging but he returned it the day after. I was going to rent it or buy it, but I had a lot of other shit to buy so in the end I completely forgot about it.

I was hoping that someone was going to be hasty and say "Dracula X". Oh yeah, the full name is Devil's Castle Dracula X: Rondo of Blood (it just rolls of the tongue, doesn't it?).
And yeah, it's SoTN.
Both of the games look preety much the same, especially SoTN start and Rondo of Blood end.

Well the game is Symphony of the Night, they just remade the final scene of Devil's Castle Dracula X: Rondo of Blood (AKA Dracula X) in the game and served as an introduction (so it's pretty much identical).
