I kept my Xbox both horizontally and vertically, and I even moved it accidentally when a disc was spinning a couple of times, it was standing vertically and nothing happened. My discs are scratch free. Put it horizontally if it's vertically.

I just looked at the disks, They have a few scratches but not that the disk is broken... I think I kinda fucked up the disk reader when I was carrying it around I guess. I dunno though, It's not reading properly anymore. I put my Xbox horizontally btw.
