It is not cheating. I ask you, does the hardware attempt to work with the software, or does the software attempt to work with the hardware? Why not both? If a significant advance or development is made in software, hardware should be modified to accept it. And vice versa.

Once upon a time, all processors were single-core. What if Windows didn't support a dual-core processor? Would that mean that if a dual-core processor were released, and the next version of Windows supported it, Microsoft would be "cheating"?
