HRT is sometimes extremely difficult to get in countries such as Norway, where you have to jump through endless hoops. Sometimes TG people have to lie in order to even get approval. In Canada, you can't order from InHousePharmacy, so you need it to be prescribed. In Alberta, there are two doctors in the entire province that do that. They are known as the 'gatekeepers'. The docs are Dr. M. Warneke and Dr. J.H. Brooks. Both of them reside in the city of Edmonton [where I luckily live] and often have long waiting lists. In order to even see them you need to get a referral from your GP, then wait out the months to get an appointment. Once the appointment comes you need to pass an interview and the 'gatekeepers' will give you a referral to an endocrinologist who will then give you hormones.
Hormones can have a plethora of effects and so trans-people have to do stuff like blood tests and all that.
