All the asswipes come in, diss the artist entirely, calling them out on "wasting their talent."

I can understand getting mad over crossing ponies with unrelated things (most recent: ponies + hunger games) but normal, totally uncontaminated art? No.
I've seen wonderful fan art from countless other children's shows, that got much praise and such for the quality, no one came in saying they wasted their talent because it was something from a show for children.

On top of that, grouping an entire fan base as terrible also needs to stop. Unfortunately, being a Sonic fan and a fan of anime, I know how this feels. I'm always grouped with the Sonic tards and absolute weeaboos, and I hate that shit, just as much as the people who try to group me with them. I'm NOTHING like the stereotype.
With MLP, many people group all fans as annoying manchildren, which is not the case. My best friend watches it, and he never makes a peep about it. Ever. Never talks about it, and he even finds the creepy/annoying/crossover stuff irritating as well. If he would never say anything about it, you would NEVER know he watches it. I only found out because I jokingly asked, and being the honest person he is, he answered, honestly.
Nevertheless I agree that an older male watching a children's show [I]mostly[/I] (I say mostly because there are references that only older people would get, so parents can tolerate the show when their child demands to see it) aimed at young girls is a tad odd, but who cares. I think people should be able to like what they want to without being ridiculed. It's the idiot fans who need to shut their traps. Don't take it out on the normal ones.
