My old terrible Nvidia card can run Dragon Age: Origins on max with no problems whatsoever, but my ATi/AMD card that is twice as powerful struggles.

im not entirely sure if its capped or not and im using a source port which usually runs great in single player, but when i join a server it drops to like 1 frame every three seconds

I don't understand ATI cards.
For one, if I overclock mine from 550/800 to 680/880 I can run S.T.A.L.K.E.R on max with full dynamic lighting, so the game sort of looks like this:

However, after about 10-15 minutes my card decides to fuck itself and the game starts going at 10-5 FPS until I exit the game and reopen it. After I reopen the game I can play for another 10-15 minutes before it does it again.
I end up having to put it on stock clocks which can only run the game on low-mediumish at about 30 fps or so. The game ends up looking like this [or close to it, I don't remember the settings on this screenshot]:

I wish that it could handle itself at 700/900, because I heard that people have gotten the card to run at that amount and that extra 20 mhz makes literally EVERYTHING run on maximum, even BF3 and ArmA 2. But it all crashes from what I assume is overheating, because I don't get blue screens or anything of that sort.
Anyone wanna send me a cooling pad please? I absolutely HATE running STALKER on the low settings as it looks horrible. I definitely don't want to back down to static lighting, the horror :suicide:
tbh I think I'm going to scrap getting my computer with dual 7770s and just go with the GTX 5xx/6xx ones for like $250 each or w/e.

You should dust out your computer. My card used to run like a jet engine until I dusted it out [I]very thoroughly[/I] and cleaned out a huge build-up of dust inside the GPU's fan case. Now it's almost silent despite not running much cooler. It's probably heat. Also, how does 20 mhz make that much difference? Overclocking my card produces no difference in FPS at all for me on any game.

If it makes you feel any better...
1. My step-father has such severe anxiety issues that he has to get disability checks.
2. I used to have really bad anxiety last year to the point where I would be sick from somatoforms every day. I missed around a month of school. It's starting to get to that point again because of the end of my senior year approaching.
Well, it's not so much that I worry about her, but I just feel bad that I can never do anything to help her. I always wish I could just be with her when this happens so I could hold her and try to calm her down and what not. But I never can. And then I feel bad and all that shit. Fuck, I'm just not thinking straight at the moment. I've got so much shit on my mind.

I've had this disorder since the sixth grade. I've never been able to do anything about it. I'm always sick, especially in the mornings. I do miss a lot of school. Right now, I'm just worried about my English mark. I missed a lot of assignments this past term, and I couldn't hand them in because the dumbass teacher fucked around with the due dates to the point that I had no idea when to get them in and it seems like it's just too late now. I can't fail English. Sure, there's another term yet, but still. Just as long as it's above 50, I guess I'll be okay. That's all I even care about at this point. Any other year, I'd be striving for the best I can, but I just don't give a fuck anymore. I just want this school year to be over. Hell, I just want to be out of school. I hate school. I'm just constantly surrounded by dumbasses. I don't even see the point of it. Maybe it's just my lack of rational thinking. I don't know.
