I doubt you guys would do any of that in her situation anyway, you're just saying that to sound like a decent human being. I would take it, and you know you would too. If nobody knows you did it, then you probably wouldn't feel guilt. Put up a sign? Some random person could "prove" it was theirs, or convince her that it was somehow, and it'd end up in somebody's hands who didn't own it either.

Now, I'm 100% more careful with my valuables, and I obviously deserved it for being irresponsible. My point is that not everybody wants to go to great lengths to find an unknown individual. She didn't even have a lead. Just their first name, and that's it.

Now imagine the people who had their items returned. They must feel a lot better about the world. Maybe they'll have the chance to return the favor some day. There is no way to validate not returning an ipod because you don't think it's worth the effort. Your mentality is essentially "Everybody wants to steal my ipod, so I shall watch over it like an animal watches over it's children."

HS didn't cause it tried to be character based and he can't write characters that great, then it ended up just getting dragged on and on and the last time I bothered to read it it just felt like he was just stretching it out as much as he could.
