Crapt please stop trolling ;-;
Can we please stop pretending this is the first time I've trolled users on Facepunch before. Nor the only mod that's done it.
And that makes it acceptable why?
Because this is a forum on the internet, quit crying.
Because this is a forum on the internet, quit crying.
Internet isn't an excuse to be a huge asshole
Yeah it is, it's the internet.
Yeah it is, it's the internet.
How come? You offended people and you are allowed to do that because it's the internet. It's like saying a news magazine is allowed to say bad stuff about you and offended people because it's the news magazine. There is no excuse for offending people. Grow up and stop being a dick!
Then sitting on the floor you have starpluck, who insisits on locking the drug threads on page 419.
I thought postal did that?
Just to play devil's advocate here: The internet isn't an excuse to be dickish. However you're going to see a lot of dark humor around that could also be construed as being dickish. When that dark humor is attempted and it fails or is badly received, you end up being in the ambit of a shitstorm that's going to last a long time if not forever. Now consider this: Craptasket has basically admitted to being a bit of a dark horse in his time on FP. I believe postal has also mentioned that he happens to have the longest ban history on FP too as far as mods are concerned (some 40 or so bans and two perma's to say nothing of the many alts of his which got banned.) Nothing you say, or I say, or anybody else says is going to change that overnight, and certainly not if you keep bombarding the same point either. I got a bit upset too over it at first (the dead users incident) but I just chucked it out of my conscious mind afterwards. Now on to the next piece: Facepunch works more or less by many different standards compared to other message boards. It's not quite as perfect in its outlooks as some places but it sure is a hell of a lot better than, say, Official Chucklefish, Minecraft, or the like. Moderators here pretty much have free reign unless they fuck up real badly or want to retire from modding. That's also a hell of a lot more than many other websites or niche communities can boast about, such as it is. Most other boards hold their moderating staff to a higher standard than other users. For better or worse, we don't have such a mindset on Facepunch, so all we can do is live with it unless garry himself drops by out of the blue to say otherwise, yes? Being a user on any internet forum, including being one on Facepunch, essentially works by the 'my house, my rules' state of governance, so unless you're really determined to stick it out on any message board, you'll have to accept the status quo as it is, unless the status quo itself changes somehow. I've been a member on certain niche communities in this vein; seen community pillars fuck up and get banned, respected moderators chucked out because of disagreements, and even once observed an administrator in a board get chucked out and banned permanently by one of his own moderating staff because he was being a dick to everybody else for no reason. I can understand that what Craptasket did can be construed as being very offensive to most people. I will not deny that it also upset me when I saw it the first time. But let's be real; even if we wanted to there's not a damn thing we can do about it, except perhaps get upset over it. Personally, I think the chestnut's gone skipping over the coals long enough. There's not going to be any agreement reached between either side in this argument. For my part, I just see little point in continuing to vocally show that one's upset about it anymore.
Yeah it is, it's the internet.
The other problem I'm seeing here is if anybody has a legitimate argument and complaint about you, you say, "Oh, it's the internet. Oh you shouldn't be so butthurt about the internet." I'm not so focused on the internet nor do I really care if you get demodded or anything. While that's true, I've got no problems with pointing out what's wrong with you, and it's not emotionally taxing for me to do so. And, again, I haven't seen any other moderator troll where it hasn't been deserved (aka the Refugee Camp). This instance of you is really the only time I've thought was out of line - not because your comments but because you're not an idiot and should know better.
Yeah it is, it's the internet.
You're a mod though, and not completely anonymous..
I do no care
I do no care
That's cool.
fug the mods

My point is that just because someone is explaining what's wrong doesn't mean they care too much. Like, I see a lot of people like Coyotzee who go way overboard and explode - I can understand not taking those people seriously or just being whatever. I can understand not taking the internet or Facepunch seriously. However, I think everyone should try to be a little receptive and just consider what other people are saying.
Starpluck. Being biased to the point of delusion is one thing, but banning people for disagreeing with you is taking it too far.
Just gonna bump this up since he just did it again.
Thing is, mods are a symbol of authority on the forums. Surely a level of maturity and professionalism is required? You are supposed to maintain order, and then you go and do what normally gets normal users banned and it's totally fine? Doesn't make any sense to me.
i see the mods more as a boundary line if you shitpost any harder than they already do you're probably going to get banned
This is sort of a relaxed forum though, professionalism isn't really required for that. Also maturity's definition varies from person to person.
Even so, mods should be held accountable for their actions just as everyone else.
Even so, mods should be held accountable for their actions just as everyone else.
That part I definitely agree with, if a mod is flaming someone and calls them a massive faggot who should just kill himself, the mod deserves to lose his powers or get banned. But otherwise they should be able to behave however they want.
I have to agree that there is a feeling of double standards at times. "If we do it, it's okay. But if you do it, ban"
The lack of proper civility and professionalism among the mods is horrendous, if it weren't for the hot anime avatars I would've been out of here years ago
The lack of proper civility and professionalism among the mods is horrendous, if it weren't for the hot anime avatars I would've been out of here years ago
A shame for you that many people want hot anime avatars banned. What you hold dear might be at stake!
I have to agree that there is a feeling of double standards at times. "If we do it, it's okay. But if you do it, ban"
If mods were unmodded or even banned for doing things that would get other users banned, how many mods do you think we would have left?
If mods were unmodded or even banned for doing things that would get other users banned, how many mods do you think we would have left?
lets see: PLing, dai, Swebonny, Orkel, verynicelady, JohnnyMo1, rilez, perhaps postal (though he's still not quite completely clean in the Craptasket affair), Niandra, Blazyd, AshMan55, Autumn, and that's about it, I guess. Still more than enough to keep the clockwork running until a few extra mods are modded in. Edit: Whoops, I forgot Asaratha and cosmic duck. Not to mention UberMensch, SteveUK, Uberslug, and Seiteki.
