My dad used to play Descent until work catches up on him. Then later on my mom plays Animal Crossing on the gamecube. And more recently, my mom's been playing Farmville. Oh wait, that doesn't qualify as a game.

NEVER. If i let them try a game, they fuck it up. They think the simplest game is really advanced and is "nicely designed", even if it's supposed to look 8-bit. If i let my mom try that stress-relief game where the only thing you have to do is to shoot some fucking smilies using your mouse, SHE THINKS THAT'S TOO HARD TOO. My dad refuses to try a game, even if he has nothing to do (other than playing with AutoCad).
My dad got me into Half-Life.
We also played Donkey Kong Country together when I was a kid.
He's not some hard core gamer or anything, but he likes to load up Left 4 Dead and play on easy every once in a while.
My dad was the one who got me into gaming into first place, I was always watching him play Doom and Duke Nukem 3d. It was hilarious to see him spaz out whenever a baron popped up behind some door or something.

father occasionally plays Runescape. He rarely plays shooters. Last time I saw him play one was when I was playing GTA Vice City couple of years back.

My father always used to play grand theft auto a while ago. He wasn't very good but he got a laugh. My step father however plays the lego (movie title here) video games. He's quite into them actually and shoots to get 100% on all of them.

My dad used to play Quake 1, 2 and 3, Doom 1 and 2, Half Life 1, American McGee's Alice, Deus Ex, Serious Sam, Hexen, Nocturne and others. Now he never plays anything. I keep trying to persuade him to play Team Fortress 2, Bad Company 2 and things like that, but he never has the time.
