I love San Andreas, but I fucking HATE the writing in that game, I also think its world isn't that great, sure its varied but its really empty.

As of now, GTA SA, because they fucking managed to make such a long story and yet you don't feel tired of it, plus the ammount of customization, actions you take in missions, size of the map, to this date free roam games cannot achieve the level of variety, fun that San Andreas had, it's only game I played through 9 times, AND it had best cheats GTA game had to this date.
Although it might change when GTA V get's released, because it's map is even bigger, you have 3 protags, there's a variety in stuff(customization,vehicles, etc) too AND it has improved physics.
I loved San Andreas because of the atmosphere.

My first game was GTA 2. I liked it but then after years I tried San Andreas which is the best gta game by far IMO.
I'm gonna have to go with GTA IV for simply the best gun physics and shit.
GTA:SA was fun for the co-op mode, like riding a motorcycle through highways and getting cops to chase you, but I wasn't particularly a fan of it, nor did I ever finish that game.
But GTA:VC I played thoroughly and accumulated a millon through the businesses eventually, easily the best out of the older GTAs.
