IV's story is superior, imo. Top notch acting from everyone they casted. Scriptwriting, too. Everything about the game just clicked, really. I haven't played GTA V's story all the way through, it seems a lot more immature though.

GTA IV is supposed to be a lot more serious then the other games, which I like since the humor they have in the other ones seems really immature and like shit a teenager would make up
I don't have any other experience with GTA other then 20 minutes of San Andreas, though, so I can't really say for sure.
But yeah, GTA IV's story so far has totally hooked me. I'm liking all the characters and stuff, they're pretty well written and it's funny without being childish. I think I'm coming up on the end, though, since I've been playing for about 20 hours and Roman is talking about marrying Mallorie, which I remember hearing is the end of the game or something? I've never finished it before, the farthest I've gotten is Florian in the past.

That driving tho
I like GTA IV's story much better, but everything else V does blows it out of the water.
I can't even turn on shadows in IV without my FPS dropping by at least 10. Then again, my computer is a bucket of crap already :v:

Helicopters in GTA have always been awful to my understanding.
Those toy helicopters from Vice City are the reason I stopped playing for like a month :v:
I did eventually get used to IV's driving, but man. It's a hell of a learning curve. It's really bad when you're chasing someone who can drive perfectly while you spend 5 eternities backing up after you ram headfirst into a wall or a fucking [B]SCRIPTED BUS.[/B]

That's why I'll never get why people always rag on GTA IV for being too serious. It was a breath of fresh air to not be doing ridiculous shit like locking someone in a comfort station and covering it in cement or attacking people with toy planes. The missions in IV felt way more professional and badass to do and didn't feel like I'm just doing shit for a cheap laugh.
Leave all the dumb over the top try hard "funny" shit to Saints Row.

i don't mind the humor like store names and stuff like that but all the satirical writing in V is just fucking horrid.
it's so forced and ham-fisted and honestly brings the writing of the game down tremendously
Everything but Franklin sucks. Franklin is the only one who gets shit done and doesn't act like a 12 year old.
also i just got back from a smash tourney and i played this kid who was like 13 - 16 (at the oldest). i ended up bodying him and then he started crying and i felt real real bad.
like i'm total ass and i know getting beat by me would be kind of embarassing so i just tried to go over and talk to him and make light of it but he really wasnt' having any of it. apparently he's played for over a year and still is having trouble improving which just makes me feel really bad but i didn't even cheer him up a bit which has me feeling like kind of a shitlord.
