In no particular order mine are:
Hotline Miami 2
Need for Speed
Fallout 4
Mad Max
Aaaaand I guess Dying Light? Those are all the games I've played that have technically come out this year besides MGS. I spent a good amount of time this year playing games I didn't get a chance to play when it came out. I'm not gonna count GTAV PC even though I would if it had straight up came out this year.
1. The Witcher 3
2. Ori and the Blind Forest
3. Rocket League
4. GTAV
Haven't played many games that came out this year.
1. The Beginner's Guide - This really hit home for me in a place no other game has in a real long time, I was an absolute mess by the end of it. And on top of that the spaces explored in the game were really quite interesting, there wasn't really much in the way of gameplay within them, but it was like walking through some kind of surreal, abstracted art gallery.
2. Axiom Verge - Can't believe it took them over 10 years to make another 2D Metroid, though I don't know why Nintendo didn't release this on any of their own platforms, weird.
3. Life is Strange - I expected this game to hit me emotionally like The Beginner's Guide did, but it never did. That and the disappointing final episode kinda leave me with a bad taste whenever I think about Life is Strange, but the whole package is so damn good and the game brings so many much needed innovations to the Telltale style of point and click adventure that it's still one of my favourite games of the year.
4. Crypt of the Necrodancer - The soundtrack is mostly why this is here, but that makes sense given how integral it is to the game itself. This game has taken the throne from Binding of Isaac in terms of roguelites in my opinion, its far less focussed around how lucky you are with your items and the core gameplay is just far more interesting than Isaac's really quite simple twin stick shooter mechanics.
5. Super Mario Maker - I spent over 100 hours in the game within the first three weeks of owning it, the act of creating levels is just so joyful in and of itself and then when you find beautifully crafted levels to play on top of that. I could play this game forever.
(a couple of these had previous release dates on other platforms, but they were released on PC in 2015 so im counting them)
1. Undertale - Easily one of, if not my favorite, game I've played to date. I didn't go into it expecting much, with it being the way it looked (another pixel art game that looked like someone hammered out in RPGMaker in their downtime). I ended up playing through it twice and part way through a third time with a whopping 17 hours.
2. Akiba's Trip - I wouldn't necessarily say the story was super awesome, but I had a ton of fun with the gameplay and customization. It also had quite a bit of quirkiness that caught me off guard at some points and even got me to laugh.
3. The Black Watchmen - I'm always interested in a good ARG, so when I saw Black Watchmen, a perpetual ongoing ARG, it got me hooked. The puzzles start off easy and significantly increase in difficulty in the later levels. You can expect to spend around 20-30 hours (maybe even 40) just on Season 1. Better yet, they just released Season 2 and it has even better mechanics and explores different methods used within ARGs, though I have yet to pick it up.
4. Fallout 4 - I haven't even come close to finishing it yet and I already have 35 hours on my first run. Only downside is that I find it a little lackluster in what I was expecting, but that's probably just from the hype train that came with it.
5. Fairy Fencer F - A weird but interesting JRPG. Definitely one I didn't see myself playing but found myself not only buying it but beating it regardless. The typical grind is fucking atrocious for some of the quests on it though. Outside of that I really enjoyed it. As with other Compile Heart games you can miss important game shit if you aren't careful though which irked me a bit.
1. Undertale
2. Bloodborne
3. Splatoon
4. MGSV
5. SOMA
Honorable mention to Until Dawn because while I haven't beaten it yet, I'm loving it.
Bad year for games? MGSV, Witcher 3, Undertale, Rocket League, Bloodborne, Fallout 4? I mean it feels like this is a year where there were so many amazing games it was hard for there to not be something that plays to your tastes. Idk, just seems we've had a mega critical hit in just about every genre this year. Except maybe FPS but even then there was the Wolfenstein expandalone, CSGO exists, R6 Siege was an expensive but pleasant experience and Overwatch is on the way.
This year had some geat titles indeed. Unfortunately as a PC gamer we also got some of the worst ports ever. On the bright side there were a couple of games that were the best ports ever.
