Why does Kyon look completely different?
Honestly I don't really see the point of this spinoff universe where nothing as interesting happens with the removal of the sci-fi elements, I assume so anyway, Nagato isn't the Nagato I like, Kyon looks nothing like Kyon, and Mikuru still exists.

I'm going to watch it to see where it takes itself but it feels arbitrary. My favourite parts of Haruhi were the supernatural parts and the worst were the "let's do boring normal things" so I'm very cautious about this
Somebody tell me the details of this universe and what they changed from Disappearance besides Kyon not being from the main universe. I'll assume that Kyon is not John Smith which takes a lot out of it. And I'm interested in seeing how the character dynamic works with Haruhi going to a different school unless they bullshit up an excuse for her to be around all day besides just being Nagato's friend or whatever.

It's all from Yuki's perspective and it's a romcom with some drama, it's like a "normal" universe.
No focus is on Haruhi at all, it's all about Kyon and Yuki's relationship
Most "supernatural" thing I can think of was that [sp]Yuki loses her memories at one point[/sp]
But then again I haven't read it in a year or two so I might be wrong
If you're going to make a Haruhi spinoff you should at least make it about Taniguchi and Kunikida's misadventures or something more interesting like that.
