First off, does Walmart even sell mangas at their stores? lol
yes actually.
we were all twelve once.
I've seen very small book sections but never any manga.
Why did I ever think redrawing sound effects was a good idea.
It's too late now, it's mostly done. I can't turn back, not after all this work
kill me
Other than Batato, do you guys use any other source for manga that is good?
mangaupdates for advanced searching for new mangos
animeplanet for manga recommendations
ebookjapan for mango raws
or what do you mean by "source"? where to read them? i just throw the rss feed of every scanlation group i come across into a program

because it's easy and doesn't take more than a weekend of casual redraws to do a chapter :^)

My local bookstore. Actually, most of what I've read has been legally purchased from either the local Indigo at the mall or Amazon.
I've bought manga from Barnes & Nobels a few times
though the one time I was looking at a volume for Dance in the Vampire Bund and it just felt extremely awkward to look at in public

pls
I never signed up for this, the initial contract for this was only translation, then we got scans so someone had to do the cleaning work, then someone was busy so I had to do all the typesetting and cleaning in order to get a chapter out within the "release schedule"

yes, "release schedule"
I wish I had some potatoshop skills so I could actually work on this instead of fumbling around praying the end result isn't too horrible. I'm terrible at typesetting, cleaning and redrawing and yet I somehow end up doing it at the end of the day.

but at the end of the day you end up with something like this so it's #worth:
(don't worry this is like one of the first pages of the first chapter)
(i never did find a full translator/typesetter for this, so it's still just kind of laying here on my drive completely redrawn and half typeset with my shit skillz :v:)

Well I told you I was willing to translate the rest of volume 1 if you wished (hell if I find the French volumes I could go further), just send me the nip raws and I'll deal with it over spring break next week since it's gonna be cold as fugg outside anyway.
I can't help with finding a typesetter though.

yea main thing is i never typesetted before so i constantly redo it thinking "is this good enough" so i p much constantly get discouraged
although i should probably just get it over with and typeset the entire first chapter so i have something done. guess i'll go do that because i've been holding onto this long enough and i'd like to get at least one chapter out. all i have left is the b&w pages anyways
if i still can't find someone after getting a chapter out i'll take you up on that though
I sometimes find some old cheap manga in discount bookstores (like those vampire hunter D novels)
Well, I just completed my first manga, since everything else I'm reading is still publishing. It was Hana to Hoshi. Pretty good, but couldn't get more tsundere if it tried.
they are, aren't they? every time I pop my ugly head in the /m/ g-reco threadsI always at least see a model kit for some of the ugly MSs in the show
shit taste detected g-reco's mecha are fucking great
The problem isn't them focusing on what's relevant, which they're doing with G-Reco's line and the The Origin kits, it's the fact that they once again scrape the bottom of the barrel for Zakus and Gundams, which is why we've had a few months of constant Zeta variants and recolours, and instead of going for the multitude of more unique designs in the late UC and AUs and taking a chance to see if they sell well, they retreat back into their OYW comfort zone and will refuse to come out until they've sold fifty Zaku 2 palette swaps. Which, judging by the Zaku Amazing's sales, isn't going to cut it anymore unless it has a nice shiny "ver origin" in the name.
With The Origin coming out we're likely to get the HG Revive AND ver The Origin kits, so we're going for ridiculous amounts of recycling.
[editline]24th February 2015[/editline]
G-Reco's problem is more than there's 15+ perfectly good designs that need kits but don't have them because Tomino seems to be deliberately flooding Bandai with too many mecha designs.
for people still following it, is DEEN Horizon worth catching up to?
listening to database gets me all hype, but is it all for nothing?

Yes. The first arc, in particular Akatsuki's solo arc, drag on a bit too long for their own good, but I think the problem won't be as pronounced when you don't have to wait a week between episodes.
The lineart quality is lower and you get the occasional obvious quality but it's nothing experience-ruining and the rest of the production and writing staff is the same so Deen has no influence on the show beyond the animation, and they've shown that they can pull out some well-animated action when they really want to.
Point is yeah you should watch it.

never point out a legitimate flaw in a show you otherwise adore because somebody on the internet might get mad.
Actually I don't even think it's a cat, it's lik a fukin goat giraffe hybrid or something

The two shining examples were Leonardo's fight and the fights on the train. One of Akatsuki's fights was okay as well and they're the most memorable ones, there are a few others scattered around.
The thing about Log Horizon's fights is that they're primarily planned out either turn by turn or move by move, they have a plan behind them. This slows down the combat considerably, particularly due to the fact that the fights have often many people in them. When there's more than two characters fighting the action is either too slow for a fast-paced fluidly animated fight, or they're just clearing out random monsters rather than having two humans/humanoids fight.
The two big examples I use were conventional one-on-ones. Unless you have a large budget and want to fluidly animate all fights big and small instead of reserving the action budget for duels, there's nothing unreasonable about Log Horizon's allocation of the budget.

I'm trying to see if the 20 percent educator discount applies to mangos too
fml it doesn't. The sign in the store made it seem like it did.
When was the last time any show consistently bothered to properly animate crowd fights on a regular basis on a mid-to-low budget anyway?
log horizon season 2 pretty much ignores what made season 1 good, and instead primarily focuses on the boring parts.
season 1 dealt with the whole MMO intro and gameplay portions at the very start, and then slowly evolved into politics/economics. Basically working with the limitation of an MMO to tell a much grander story. it then ended off on a climax where some kind of conflict was probably going to happen soon.
season 2 goes back to mmo gameplay for like the first 15 episodes, with very little else in the way of actual story. "here's a group of people in a raid", "here's some newbies on a quest"; it's extremely boring seeing as we already moved past that after the first 7 episodes or so of the first season. It honestly feels like terrible shounen filler. it's not all bad because it does touch on the backstories of a few characters, but when the end of season 1 hypes you up like something grand is going to happen it's kind of odd. Like, [sp]nureha gets introduced at the end of season 1. shiroe refuses to join her, so she heads back to where she came from determined to get shiroe to join her again.[/sp] And then we spend 15 or so episodes watching a guild do a raid and kids travel around the countryside [sp], and only recently did we see nureha again in full even doing anything at all[/sp].
small events happen in the background that slowly push the story forward, but it legit seems like they're just padding it out with "MMO grind" just to make it longer. i mean yea i guess thematically making a ton of episodes where you have to "grind" through makes sense ironically but it's not exactly an enjoyable experience.
i'm still watching it but at the same time i wouldn't recommend season 2 at all
They've spent the season building up to the conflict. The author went "ok this volume we focus on a raid and this volume we focus on akatsuki" and that translated to x many episodes of an anime because it wasn't paced with an anime in mind which led to the first anime arc going on too long. Scrub Horizon was the best part of the season so far and we've moved into the background buildup going into the foreground anyway.
I like MMO stuff anyway. I like raids and watching them have an adventure. So it doesn't bother me anyway.
i really want to talk about something other than the generic deen horizon shit but we're in the dead part of the week where only lesbian bear storm airs
