stop being rude kamikaze
The fact that I asked to discuss a show and got several "Why are you asking? My ratings are clearly on this external website" was pretty bad tbh.
Anyway i just have one more question before it's too late
In Durarara can I expect the dubbing to be as great as it was in Bacano? Or should I watch it subbed?
also not even 3 seconds in there's already an Isaac and Maria cameo. This is gonna be great
Thank you. Fuck you. A villain has arrived!

Uh I can guarantee that this is bad advice and you should be ashamed of yourself. To think that a voice actor is better just because they speak japanese is a laughable claim at best.
Don't do it..!

but to think that the original voice acting is better because the animation, dialogue, pacing, lip-sync, editing and movement are built for that is a pretty solid claim

Could just watch 2-3 eps of the sub and the dub and see which you prefer, I don't think anyone here has actually watched the dub here so.

why are you asking
the dubbing quality is CLEARLY observable by watching the show

forgive my rudeness
sorry for rude but dubs are bad and you should feel bad if you watch them
sorry if im rude
Dubs are cool and so are you.

yeah it has nothing to do with the fact that the voice acting in Japan is massive and the US counterpart a fucking joke
but to think that the original voice acting is better because the animation, dialogue, pacing, lip-sync, editing and movement are built for that is a pretty solid claim
Animation is edited to sync up so that is not an issue at all. Dialogue is better when the script is rewritten to accommodate for horrible translations (which you see all the time in subs) So unless you know japanese, that whole argument is out the window. Lip-sync and movement are animation so you're just repeating yourself there.
Anyway it's because of those things that make it possible for there to be horrible dubs. But dubs still have the potential to be better than the original va cast. Bacano is a great example because you become more immersed in its world with the realistic accents.
I don't really want to get into a dub vs sub argument though. So if there's anyone here that indulges in both subs and dubs could you kindly post how you would recommend viewing Durarara? Feel free to PM me if you don't want to be called out for liking dubbed anime.

I have the option of watching the dub via my BDs but I haven't so I have no idea how awful the dub is.

You asked people's thoughts, and in lieu of a proper discussion (due to the fact that Baccano! is years old and most people watched it years ago) you got a compiling of a list of ratings from 48 seperate people in the same thread, which is a pretty good basis for their thoughts, especially considering not a single rating dropped below 8/10.
Why are you so offended?

Because some stats aren't someones opinion on the show. It's a number. It's not words. They don't mean anything to me except as a scale for measurement. It shows nothing.
I was just under the impression this is a thread for discussing anime I guess I was wrong
apologies

It shows that people quite clearly liked it. Further than that cannot be provided by a mere number, but the numbers are the best you'll get from most of us unless we go and rewatch the show.
sorry for rude but dubs are bad and you should feel bad if you watch them

dude if you really think it's black and white like that your opinions are as good as a fanboys
thats pretty rude
I feel sorry for any non regular who posts here and tries to start a conversation. I dunno why it's so hard for most people here to make a normal reply lol.

seeing that people like it isn't indulging in conversation on the topic. I knew FP liked it. it's on the front post. I just wanted to converse a show I just watched.
"No get lost we watched this already years ago how dare you"
Why are you so offended?
Although being a tool is written into the fa genetic code, not everyone is aware of it.
you're not discussing anime
you're asking for a thorough review on an old show and barking at literally every reply
Why are we all trying to start fights with each other? Because you can't beat me, i'm anime mega weight world champion.

there are dubs that i enjoy as well, some for how bad they are and some for how not-awful they are
the grand majority of dubs are garbage, though
in the last year or so i've only seen one anime with an okay dub and that was space dandy, and even then after a while i switched to the subs and it felt much better, more fitting and overall flowed nicer
watching some scenes with both the dub and subs makes it very clear how the dub just doesn't fit at all
those animation edits you mentioned aren't really very possible on any big scale and no animation studio is going to remake scenes to make the movements fit the english dub or english body language as a whole
so what you end up getting is either really stripped down or even completely cut dialogue, poorly edited and paced editing or people who look like they're speaking japanese but are actually speaking english
the exaggerated body language in anime tends to make english seem really out of place
and to give an example of the dub editing, in one of the episodes of space dandy, the protagonist says "hey, you guys made it!" which had to be cut down and replaced in the english dub as just him saying "yeah!" which made no sense in the context
dubs CAN be good, but no studio is ever going to put that much effort into a dub
ignoring the rudeness, saying "i like this. here is my rating. signing off" isn't discussing something at all but ok buddy thanks for trying
fuck lol i just wanted to talk about an anime i just watched and this thread is so unwelcoming it's hilarious
You literally asked "what is your opinion on this anime" and we gave you our opinion
if you actually want a discussion then maybe you should bring forth something to actually discuss? What did you like about baccano? what didn't you like? what was your favorite scene? what characters are your favorite? how was the animation quality? would it have worked better as live action instead? what could it have done better? would it have been better if the story was told a different way?
you told us nothing about it other than that you liked it, so what exactly are we supposed to discuss? If you can't even give a concrete thought about the anime after having just finished it, how are we supposed to do it when most of it finishing watching it 2+ years ago? You just want other people to discuss your favorite anime for you, and sorry we're not that nice to comply with what you want. :^)
try harder tia

it has nothing to do with "japanese > english"
you wouldn't watch spongebob in german/japanese, you should watch it in english because that's the original language
and you should watch anime in japanese because that's the original language.
even though dark souls was made in japan, it originally had english VAs in the japanese release, so listening to english voices is the intended option.
"No get lost we watched this already years ago how dare you"
as said by approximately no-one ever
we are simply saying that you are asking what is basically impossible without rewatching

the greatest dub
I like the Golden Boy dub
DxD dub makes me laugh.
some dubs are good some (most) dubs are bad
if you say all dubs are bad then you're being elitist
