I like the original more, opening #1 not #2. Not a big fan how they practically used the original intro, just swapped some scenes and changed the song.

I find it funny that Kancolle keeps trying to stay "historically accurate" while at the same time seemingly ignoring the fact that Japan lost the war, and all the girls should end up dead or POWs and the world enslaved by the Abyssals at the end.
I also just learned that Yuudachi [sp]gets a special upgrade to look like some kind of demon, and they apparently did this to reflect the fact that she sank 2 ships and damaged another the day she sank. So they're bending history here by not just, you know, sinking her like they're supposed to. At least then I'd never have to hear poi again.[/sp]

If you really want the zero-budget-background experience, it needs to be really washed out and pale.
or maybe that's just the low budget early-to-mid 2000s anime talking, i guess modern zero-budget backgrounds would all be shitty 3d renders
