Personally I hope that doesn't happen because that's anime bullshit.
But I'm pretty sure something like that is going to happen, but I will be very glad if it doesn't.
More shows needs to have the balls to leave some parts disappointing and sad and go against our wishes (and expectations). It's not like it makes it into a sad show overall either, a realistic punch or two here and there and then moving on with your life is not a bad thing. Not every dream has to be realized, or maybe it can be realized it in a different way, maybe the dream itself changes as you experience new things by coincidence.
