Yuyushiki was the epitome of "Nothing happens, but cute girls so whatever." Also for more moe, Mikakunin de Shinkoukei.
wow a slice of life is actually... a slice of life????????? what the fuck maan
Yuyushiki was the epitome of "Nothing happens, but cute girls so whatever." Also for more moe, Mikakunin de Shinkoukei.
Mikakunin would have been improved tenfold if they just deleted every scene with Kobeni in it. I feel like I should point out that I understand her role in the story and that she's the straight man to act as the foil to the antics of everyone else, but beyond that, what's actually the point of her character? She's a complete pushover with no agency of her own.
I really liked Aku No Hana, I gave it 10/10. I only read the manga, though. The only thing I found wrong with it was that it's pretty derivative (Masturbation Master Kurosawa), but I feel it's a better Kurosawa minus the humor.
You should watch the anime at least up to the point when they rampage the classroom, that scene was fantastic. Just to experience it with sound and motion. The show has some overly long silent sections that overstay their welcome, ruining the mood it's supposed to build, but it was overall quite solid.

All of it?
Anyone know if the new season of Tokyo Ghoul is any good? Marathoned the 1st season a bit back and when I flipped passed Tokyo MX a bit ago I saw piece of it but didn't wanna spoil it for myself. Me and my other half like to throw down on the couch and Marathon seasons so she want's to wait until the seasons over.
If you liked the first season you'll probably like the new one. It's the same bad adaptation except now it's half anime-only.
Mikakunin would have been improved tenfold if they just deleted every scene with Kobeni in it.
no
Yuyushiki was the epitome of "Nothing happens, but cute girls so whatever." Far better than something that drives on good "look how cute it is" animation like K-on. Unpopular opinion, but I dislike Mikakunin. Mostly Benio tho fuck Benio
no
Is there some point where her character is salvaged that wasn't covered in the anime or OVAs that I'm missing? I'm genuinely curious.

I would still recommend reading those 65 chapters first tbh
Benio was great at first, then she just got annoying. I preferred K-On to Yuyushiki. In K-On they're at least trying to do something, that being play music, Yuyushiki they really don't do anything but fuck around and browse the internet. That said, it's enjoyable, nothing wrong with girls just fucking around, I just think K-On is better. Preferred the art in K-On too, but I also just like KyoAni's style.
Benio was great at first, then she just got annoying.
Nah, Benio was annoying from the start. Her not being present would have changed basically nothing in the show except the fact that she would not be there, thereby making the entire show better in any scene in which she isn't in (all of them, aka).
Good choice, nobody else in here likes it but me, but they also didn't want to finish it because they thought the main character was a pretentious pussy which was exactly the point of the show.
I just found it painful to keep watching it unfold, sometimes to the point of needing to pause and look out the window for a few minutes. However, unlike something like Watamote or Prison School, I knew there wasn't going to be any humourous outcome. Best comparison I could draw is when you read some really fucked up shit in the news and just need to close the tab halfway through reading.

dgg, I did watch Aku no Hana and enjoyed it. I agree the acting was shit and the rotoscoping was okay but I do love the story. I'm currently reading the manga.
How much of the story do they cover? All of it?
Aku no Hana [sp]ends a bit after they both try to escape the city together and fall off the bike on the road and confess their inner thoughts about themselves as persons, letting all their insecurities out in the open.[/sp] I haven't read the manga since I don't really read manga, but it certainly does not adapt all of it at all.
I just found it painful to keep watching it unfold, sometimes to the point of needing to pause and look out the window for a few minutes. Do you not feel an urge to get through it slowly when it manages to stir your emotions that deeply? I understand why you would want to take a break, but if I ever had a reaction like that it would be a definite reason to watch all of it.
dgg, I did watch Aku no Hana and enjoyed it. I agree the acting was shit and the rotoscoping was okay but I do love the story. I'm currently reading the manga.
I didn't really find the acting to be shit personally, I thought it fit the main characters and their personalities very well. I found the rotoscoping visually to be good, but somehow they just couldn't manage to keep it animated during animated moments, those weird freeze frames out of nowhere. I hope they fixed those in the release. (not talking about keyframes in general) The pacing, as mentioned, was the biggest killer for me. You'd think he'd be better at those since they are really well done in Mushishi, but in Aku no Hana there were a lot of silent walking moments to build up this empty, sad, etc mood that just kept on going for an eternity to the point where it wasn't "this also gives me the feeling of emptiness" but instead "fucking get on with it please, jesus christ, show me SOMETHING, ANYTHING, COME ON".
After reading the manga...I kind of agree but I still think the MC's acting was a bit dull I guess but overall I did like the show. I think I like things with blackmail in it. Gets me excited to see how a character reacts and attempts to get out of it.

I guess you are right. I have a new outlook on Aku no Hana "anime". I'm not saying I get off on it but it's interesting to see what characters do.
I'm not saying I get off on it but it's interesting to see what characters do.
What you say and what you do is entirely different matters. You get off to Shinji being pressured into piloting the damn [del]robot[/del]cyborg all you well please. Enjoy your netorare and whatnot.
I don't think I will ever have that pleasure as I never plan on watching that. :v:
I don't think I will ever have that pleasure as I never plan on watching that. :v:
It's not THAT bad. Just overrated to hell and back. I would definitely label it as a must-watch just because of it's cultural impact, it's just one of those things you should experience for yourself so you know what people are talking about and why. It has one episode where things (falsily) seem to get really fucking interesting, around ep 17~19, then it just continues like normal afterwards, but at least the animation on the 2 last episodes are nice eycandy and End of Evangelion is good for forhead vaginas and the two first Rebuild movies are actually great.

I think I would have a hard time watching it, because I was so into the manga that I finished it in a few hours. This would be like 4-5 times slower than how I experienced it.

Again my recommendation is just to experience the classroom incident, and of course to build up the mood you should watch the episodes prior to that, but anything after that is take it or leave it since you've already read the whole thing.
And so the Bones Binge continues. Finished Scrapped Princess. 8/10. Anyone who liked Chaika will probably like SP, though for all the parallels, Scrapped Princess is still a very different and unique show. Very enjoyable. Good soundtrack. All that jazz. Next up, No. 6.
i feel really empty now my deepest desire is to have the second season finished but it looks like all hope is lost manga it is, i guess
Don't worry. It's always safe to assume the manga is probably better anyways.
Next up, No. 6.
prepare for a shit ending
how do i read the manga is there a website or do i have to get a physical copy
