Are there any good animes where the MC isn't a mindless retard or emotionally crippled to the point he is a potato, and people act somewhat like people? Guess I am just looking for a show where the MC falls somewhere along the lines of shinji from parasyte or Seiya from ABP. Or where I don't have to question if the characters walked out of a mental hospital and this is there first time interacting with other people.
Monster
Well Durarara seems rife with references and homages to other shows when the otaku are around, I just saw a poster for So Ra No Wo To in it.

So a friend suggested I watch H.O.T.D as an introduction to Anime series (recently renewed my Netflix), and for some reason I agreed, even though my anime experience up to this point was pretty much "hey Ghost in the Shell is a cool movie" and "KLK is pretty good, too". Am I going to jail? I'm pretty sure Ep6 and that other episode have got to break at least one UK law, if not all of them simultaneously. (How the fuck did it get on Netflix with a BBFC15 cert, anyway?) Also, what the fuck did I just watch?
Your friend clearly doesn't know his shit watch Steins;Gate instead
watch Steins;Gate instead
He did also recommend that, burning through it at the moment
Now that I read latest Akame ga Kill chapter. If only they waited with the anime. :( [editline]26th January 2015[/editline]
So a friend suggested I watch H.O.T.D as an introduction to Anime series (recently renewed my Netflix), and for some reason I agreed, even though my anime experience up to this point was pretty much "hey Ghost in the Shell is a cool movie" and "KLK is pretty good, too". Your friend either has a bad sense of humor or you might want to call the police on him for his bad taste in anime.
If your friend ever tells you to watch Strike Witches, you may need to find a new friend.
this gets asked like every other 20 pages but labfacepunch is dead(?) and I can't be bothered finding posts anyway, what's a good program for watching anime on phone? Got a new phone that doesn't suck so might as well watch stuff when I'm not at the comp
Urusei Yatsura - [sp]I guess ataru does care[/sp] kinda spoilerish
I really like how Urusei Yatsura can do well with pretty much any genre or subject matter it puts its mind too. Of course, that's partially thanks to Oshii, you can definitely see traces of his style that would later be implemented in his other works like Ghost in the Shell.
Okay steins gate episode 8, what the fuck am I watching? [sp]"I want to be a girl"[/sp] Well that's a good place to call it a night
Okay steins gate episode 8, what the fuck am I watching? [sp]"I want to be a girl"[/sp] Well that's a good place to call it a night
You haven't seen anything yet, 12 is the best episode to call it a night though.
You haven't seen anything yet, 12 is the best episode to call it a night though.
As long as it's no more curve balls, we go from [sp]sending messages about phones, card games, and lotto tickets to "CHANGE MY GENDER!".[/sp] Kinda threw me for a loop there.

[sp] Also being befuddled at the genderswap in an anime? Do you also experience panic attacks when watching wheel of fortune? [/sp]

The Japanese sure do seem to love the Chinese knockoffs of the Tokarev pistol, they seem to show up all the time in anime.

Tonight might be the night. Tonight I might finally attempt to finish these last 6 episodes of After Story that I've been holding off on for over 4 months. Everything is still fresh in my mind. I'm going back into this without forgetting anything even after all this time. I'm already tearing up just thinking about it :v: [sp]I'm the biggest pussy alive.[/sp]

I'm still quite fresh to the grand library of anime that exists, but Clannad/After Story has to be one of the most touching, gut-wrenching, and life changing pieces of art I have ever indulged in (That's all personal opinion of course). On that topic, could anybody recommend an anime similar to Clannad? Preferably something just as long and charmful.

Kanon > Anohana
Anyone got any suggestions for anime that's big on worldbuilding? It doesn't have to be genre specific. Shit like Shinsekai Yori, Sora no Woto, and Nagi no asukara all fall under that. Animes with a genuinely interesting settings that leaves you wanting to know more.
