I dont really watch much chinese cartoons but I recently finished up kill la kill, and the VA / Sound design / art style worked together so seamlessly that I couldn't stop watching and ended up marathonning it

Kinda. They skipped the prequel series (Owari no Chronicle) where most of the lore/terms are explained and just ran with the setting. There's an infodump on the background at the end of episode one, but good luck making any sense of it.
and Aikatsu! is just as bad (if not worse) as LL! anyway. I don't think it's stopped airing once in the past two and a half years.
