I'm laughing so hard at this right now
The most recent episode of the NBC crime drama Law and Order: Special Victims Unit has touched off intense discussion in the anime community. The episode, titled “Loliconvict”, featured detectives Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Tutuola (Ice-T) pursuing an illicit doujinshi ring. The episode takes the detectives to an anime convention where they attend a boring panel discussion on the topic “what the hell is moe, anyway?”, and to several basements packed to the rafters with idol figures and dakimakura.
Throughout the episode, the agents crack down on otaku and the recent “moe” phenomenon, hinted to be synonymous with child pornography. Otaku, the episode explains, are dangerous reclusive criminals who peddle explicit cartoons. Agent Tutuola apprehends one otaku early in the episode and uncovers his harem of wives (known as “waifu”) before remarking that the man’s waifu were “shit.”
While many members of the anime community criticized the episode for inaccurately portraying anime fans as sexually deviant misogynist polygamist socially inept criminal weirdos, the writing staff insists that the episode was carefully researched.
“Our writers spent hours poring over Anitwitter, /a/, and several major anime websites in order to make the episode as believable as possible,” episode director Warren Leight told Anime Maru.
“In one scene, Detective Tutuola says that he read on ANN that Kirino was, in fact, best OreImo. That’s actually something we really saw on that website. See what I mean? We are committed to being authentic.”
I feel like this is going to become some kind of trend now after that Gamergate episode.
Ethics in anime journalism.
And for some reason I can't edit my post so I can't add that it's not real.

good thing I already knew animemaru was a satire site, I did laugh pretty hard at the image in the article though.
My 2TB external might be dying. The amount of reallocated + bad sectors is rising steadily and some files take ages to open, and some files even make windows explorer crash. Beginning the anime evacuation while I still can!
2 year warranty and I bought it 2 years + 2 months ago. They timed it well
Meanwhile my 170gb internal is still in perfect health after 9 years of operation.
Gone from 4000 to 16000 reallocated and 100 to 700 uncorrectable sectors since I wrote this post
The evacuation continues

Your hentai folder slowly disappears.

I wish it were real.
Also, I would blame the directional " marks in your quote. They're "nonstandard characters", so FP can't handle them if you try to edit or quote them.
waiting in line for 5 hours?
Nekocon was just as bad since paypal fucked up
waiting in line for 5 hours?
does not happen at all cons. Katsu was especially bad this year, last year I was only in line for 1 hour at Otakon, and Magfest was literally 10 minutes, and Katsu last year was only around 1-2 hours.
This year was just really bad because they don't know how to meet growing demands. Magfest knows that they are a growing con, so they met those demands and improved upon their timing. They allowed people to preregister in line so when they actually go up to pay, they just give them money and get their badge. Otakon has maybe 20-30 people registering people at once to meet the demands of over 20k people. Katsu had 3 lines servicing thousands of people with crappy tablets at the desk to register. My katsu this year was cut short and their lack of line management played into it, but I can't say that all cons are boring because lines.

or the game room
I just finished watching "Welcome to the NHK" and I have to say, unless I'm missing some Japanese historical/cultural context, it's kind of frustrating. I mean, the whole thing in general was good, it's just that [sp]The fact that at the end he goes on some fucking conspiracy theory diatribe and then at the very end she's all like "hurr durr sign this contract" no fuckin' kissing or hugging or any shit like that, so you don't know if they're a couple or not, and it's very weakly implied if there was something like that[/sp] What's with the whole NHK Conspiracy thing? I don't really understand the importance of it throughout the show [sp]especially with his 'senpai' talking about it so much I don't get it. Seems like it was just there for a plot device.[/sp]
Also, EXTREMELY fuckin' frustrating how [sp]oh i dont know if i like her or not, and she's all i like/love you etc etc. and the love contract near the end and holy fuck it made me mad like do SOMETHING[/sp] too bad it's a one-off and there's no more seasons/sequels... That's what I hate about anime. There's no concrete ending for most of them cause they're one-offs.
In general though, I thought it was pretty decent, but pretty dry at times because I guess they needed to extend it artificially what with the [sp]ero game[/sp] and stuff. I'm not a fan of the manga, but is it better than the anime?
Speaking of which, I want to get a Misaki figure. Since the show came out in 2006, I'm pretty much doomed to get something off of ebay. Does anyone have any input on how to avoid bootlegs? Looking at these ones:
