Stick with jazz you'll love yourself for it.
I like whiny indie shit and stuff you can dance to.
Listen to rap and be cool.
This is the kind of music I listen to most of the time:

That and Solar Fields.
Ambient downtempo is where it's at. Solar fields is quality.
Kids nowadays listen to Crunk (Fusion of rap and EDM) with a pinch of Hip Hop, a sprinkling of R&B and a very light dusting of rock. None of which is especially bad music (But there are some awful ones) but you will find a lot more variation (and I would say emotion but some people get emotional over bitches and money too I guess) in Jazz.
I need help in knowing what songs peeps are in to.
I am so stuck in 70s and 80s Jazz and I just think that I should really get into the style of current music.
My parents say it was the way I was raised up, my father being an 14 year ex-marine and mother being high school teacher so I was raised up well mannerly -- I guess you could say.
I got into Jazz when I was younger from my grandparents (being players themselves), I loved the way it sounded - just something I clicked into.
It's been around 7/8 years, I've literally never heard of other music, besides the times on radio and TV (it hurts my ears listening to loud kicks and bumps and other stuffs) but I don't pay attention and usually play video games or do w/e.
I heard rap music is something big these days and most cool people are into it, anyone suggest some good rapper bands? Or rappers (is that what they are called?).
Suggestions are very much appreciated.
Listening to cool music doesn't make you cool
Cool people do what the fuck they want
Keep listening to Jazz, Jazz is an awesome genre.
if you go from to jazz to the faggoty music of the our generation you'll be soundly disappointed.
don't listen to it because you need to, listen to it if you like it. our opinions won't count for much since most of fp listens to metal and hates rap and black people.
Surprisingly insightful
A good representation of what "cool" people listen to

Found something better.

I listen to American rapers such as M.O.P. , 2pac, easy-E
But there are so many popular genres like Dance, Hardcore,Jumpstyle, rock,Rap,Grime,Trance,Hardstyle,Classical,Jazz,Drum and bass,Pop. There isnt realy one type of music anymore its only what you like. So stick with jazz if you like it.
Oh, if it helps, your pic in your other thread made me think of this:
start listening to lady gaga
yes yes yes
Cory Gunz is pretty good at rapping and is doing the radio circuits so he might be cool in a year or two

I listen to '60s and '70s music; artists such as The Doors, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Who, Pink Floyd, etc. The only "current" music I even listen to is post-rock.
Remember that awesome song that played as Jim navigated the empty, desolate streets of London in 28 Days Later? East Hastings, by Godspeed You! Black Emperor, one of the most well-known post-rock artists.

My favorite post-rock artists are Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Mogwai, and Explosions in the Sky, though there are others.
OP is obviously a troll
As it happens, the only bands I see worth following, who are releasing music would be Kasabian and Arctic Monkeys.
This guy is a troll. Happens to be the exact same guy who made the "Those girls laughed at me in the mall today" thread. Seems his life is just not working out for him. I think he's a troll, I dunno.
Also, to actually be helpful, I just go on the top 40 UK chart list and just listen to em, anything I like, I get more of from the band.

I don't even know what trolling means, care to tell?

I love you. Post-rock has to be one of, if not my absolute favourite genres as a whole.
So much emotion in each track, it's beautiful.

The shady civilians fool
I listen to classic rock and a lot of kids my age give me a hard time about it. I had Rush playing in the car and they complained about how Geddy Lee sounded like a girl.

It's NEVER a bad thing for someone to want to broaden their musical interests
This probably isn't going to get a good response from most but some rap I actually rather like, has a nice sound to it.
Too Short - The Ghetto

Ice Cube - Check Yo Self

Ice Cube - It Was A Good Day

It sounds a bit shameful but playing GTA has introduced me to a lot of songs I now listen to a lot. San Andreas showed me rap, classic rock and disco, 4 showed me soul/R&B and fusion. Keygen music is often fantastic as well, has a range of different styles and sounds. There's a huge pack of 1591 songs here but you need a media player that can play the module filetypes - foobar200 works for it fine. Some example:
Wobbly Things

3D Galax

Toffelskater Hero

And a classic you've probably heard before - Unreal Superhero

reggae
actually, fuck that.
-snip-
listen to drake, he's a rapper. sheeeeeeet

What's wrong with Snoop Dogg?
..Akon sucks dick but Snoop is awesome.
New music generally sucks major genitals. Unless it's by really old bands.
I listen to jazz myself and I love it.
Stick with it if you like it and mainstream music can never be compared with jazz.
