Good Anime for Starters? - General

It's just a form of animation: some anime is perverted shit but the majority is just like regular TV-shows drawn in another art style. I attempted to get into anime a little while back. I'd definitely recommend Death Note and Fullmetal Alchemist for starters. Elfen Lied is pretty good too. Those are the only ones I got round to watching.

My favorites are Samurai Champloo and Welcome to the NHK (it's about an introverted dude, so you might relate to it like I did)
