I can only assume that, because all the examples are from Syphen, that he's doing that himself.
Some greasemonkey script adds those from what I remember..

Seems to be something to do with the Greasemonkey script, no idea what it means :(
depends on the OS/ encoding/ browser you have ?? This symbol is a technical symbol. Symbols like these show you where you have line breaks, indents and tabulateions etc..
Did you click on it?
Facepunch ultra script. It puts such a sign there if a letter isn't a "normal" character.
Sometimes it appears on certain threads, then I reload the page and it's gone. :iiam:
