Wow, Goddamn. I felt I got a bit pissed in this episode.
Can't really say much more than that without spoiling anything. But for the ones that have seen it, it was the episode with the country of peace.

Kino's Journey episode 13.
Beautiful. That was beautiful. Good ending to a good show.
So, I'll do one of those long forgotton reviews if we can call them that.
Kino's Journey was a pretty good show. It starts of really slow, gets you familiar with the concept, jumps straight into it all and just keeps going from there and tells you a bit about the past and why Kino decided to be a traveler after 4 episodes. Well paced to sum it up.
After a while it becomes much more interesting, and what's cool about it is that a country is really just a city, but they are treated as a country, own laws, own kinds of people, you know all that jazz. But what a country really is in the show, is a part of humanity. The show is kinda psychological because of this concept, every episode simply dwelves into one particular way some humans act and think, or simply just takes a problem with certain people and make it into a whole humankinds seed to grow laws and ways of life through.
It's a really interesting way to pull it off, and it's even better because it's not a futuristic show nor an old show, it is a show without time and in a completely different universe. You have people, you have all plants and animals you find on earth, but the earth itself is pretty different and is as said inhabited mainly through cities (countries) and then there aren't much more than tribes, outcasts and people who want to live alone that live outside a country. Technology is completely dependent on the country as some countries have super computers and even robots, whilst others live like it's 1899.
The art is downright terrible, but charmful. It has the most annoying scanlines I've ever seen and they're there, always, it took me over half the show to get used to them. Fucking scanlines. Everyone has extreme downs and most people have faces as round as tomatoes or else they have the same headshape like everyone else making pretty equivelant to faces as round as tomatoes as it gives just as much identity. The animation isn't exactly incredible either so to say. It all does it's job but is pretty bad.
The sound and music is pretty Serial Experiments Lain like. But not as good. SEL had a good atmosphere to it, and even drop dead silence was a sound. In Kino it's more randomish and amateurish and it just sounds like somebody fucked it up from time to time instead. Lots of weird sounds and lots of "ooh, artistic" blings, blongs, blop blap. Sometimes it worked, sometimes not pretty much. Voice acting was OK, lot of the people sounded like the same voice actor which I wouldn't be surprised if they were, I can but only imagine that this show must of been on a VERY tight budget.
I also liked how Kino was a very very neutral character. Super trained elite that could kill anyone if she wanted, but lives so that she only kills when necessary, but is at the same time not a person that gets terrified or filled with shock when something bad or horrible happens. She just looks at it and can laugh and smile right afterwards because she respects the differences in people and different countries. She doesn't mind it when people are murdered but would personally avoid it if possible. That's the kind of character any media lacks, seriously. Most people are either batshit insane villains that want to see gallons of blood for no fucking reason, or else they are moral fags that screeches in horror and speaks essays of how bad it is to murder people whenever someone is killed and does whatever he (It's never a she) can to avoid such things from happening again. Often by fighting some evil villain that wants to see people bleed gallons of blood.
But yeah, all in all it was a really good show that got better as it went, showed us some more interesting countries and dwelved into humanity quite well and Kino usually had some good finishing one liners or questions to ask someone in the country that she had gotten to know.
8/10. Very good.
Now I have to see the two remaining movies.
