• How To: Crack Combination Lock (3 seconds, no tools)
    86 replies, posted
Well it is easy to know when you know the combination, because you know where it is SUPPOSED to lock on the numbers. I mean they are incredibly easy to crack, but it may be a bit harder when trying to do it in 5-10 seconds without knowing the combination. Also, It doesn't work on these. You have to go through every number.
Time to have some fun once school is back in session.

One of my relatives used this lock for a suitcase when going overseas. I found it in a draw full of old shit, and i didn't know the combination. It took me a whole minute to remember the bike lock method i worked out from my childhood and apply the same technique to this one. Which part of "you can do this blindfolded" is so hard for people to understand? It's clear from the video that all that is required is to pull the shackle and spin the wheel things, starting with the last one. Thus, it is EASIER AND FASTER to open these using this method, than it is to manually enter the correct code. And from your statement before, it's fairly clear that you don't understand the principle behind it. EDIT: Those appear to have a keyhole too.
oh man, this is awesome. those locks suck :s masterlock has some good ones now. i havent been able to crack them like this.
I can't watch the video (fucking China!), how do you do it, pull the shackle and spin the bottom wheel (if the shackle is at the top)?

I have one of those locks in front of me and it doesn't lock when you pull the shackle. I have done this method before on other locks I am not saying it doesn't work nor am I suggesting I don't understand. I was stating though, on some locks since they don't fully lock up, if you don't know the combination you won't realize it is supposed to lock on a certain number. That is all.
You have been foiled, good sir.
I'd probably try my hand at it, but i don't have one. When searching for "combination lock" to identify the one i had, most of the results came up for that thing. And i see that there are already videos and all kinds of methods available for it. It would be a whole lot harder though... probably.
I can't watch the video (fucking China!), how do you do it, pull the shackle and spin the bottom wheel (if the shackle is at the top)?
To Unlock: 1: Pull shackle away from lock. Always have a fair amount of tension. 2: (Start with the last wheel - furthest from shackle). Spin until it locks into place 3: Repeat with other wheels, working your way towards the shackle. To Change Code: 1: Unlock the lock 2: Push the shackle down into lock position but OUTSIDE of the hole which locks it in. So that the shackle can spin freely outside the lock until it hits one of the sides. 3: Select a new code. 4: Pull shackle out (may have to spin it into a certain position for it to come loose)
im gonna go try this

It pisses me off that people pollute the planet to produce this shit en masse, and others pay for it. People get rich off of this, and it's absolute rubbish. That's why i put the manufacturer info and contact detail into the video info. Hopefully it'll embarrass them into making quality locks which actually serve a purpose. Not to mention that it's probably poisoning people with heavy metals. I don't trust SHIT from china these days. All that crap in dogfood/babyfood/milk product/lead in toys & jewelry/contaminated drywall/exploding glass patio tables and cookware, etc, etc. And then there's things like these: "The discovery late last summer of a radioactive EKCO cheese grater at a Flint, Mich., scrap plant. The Chinese-made grater was laced with the isotope Cobalt-60, and was giving off the equivalent to a chest X-ray every 36 hours." Source: http://www.scrippsnews.com/node/43576 AND THIS "The product, Sheridan's "Indulgence" blanket, was found by the Australian Wool Testing Authority to contain 2790 parts per million of formaldehyde, a chemical classified by the World Health Organisation in 2004 as a human carcinogen which even at very low levels can cause skin and respiratory irritations." "The US and the European Union have fixed limits ranging from 30 ppm for infants' bedding and clothing to 330 ppm for general purpose textiles. In Japan the limit for infants' textiles is 15 ppm." Source: http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/chinese-textiles-could-pose-cancer-risk/2007/05/20/1179601244347.html Fuck this is just what i quick remembered from memory. I could go on forever...
It only works on the cheap locks.
This is gonna be fun, most lockers in our school use these kind of locks. :ninja:

I always used to do this all the time when I was bored as a kid. Just set a random combination, lock it, and do this method to unlock it. Though sometimes it doesn't work with ALL locks.
Loved the lense idea.

In airports, I don't know if they still do it, but they used to cut locks off of bags for security reasons or they wouldn't let you have locks on the bag. The exception to the rule was samsonite locks.
Does it work with the chain lock you pictured in the beginning or ones that have cables?

But it was pretty fun defeating one.
Does it work with the chain lock you pictured in the beginning or ones that have cables?
Yes it does. Although you may have to start the doing the wheels from the other end. Depending on the quality also, the method may be slightly different or may not work at all. From the video info: "In the case of the bicycle lock, the wheels may not jam into place, but you can tell by the gap and looseness of the mechanism when you've got the right number."
Your voice sounds incredibly sexy to me. Also, this is pretty neat. I figured it out a long time ago as well, but it's nice to see that other people like taking advantage of cheap shit. You've inspired me to be on the lookout for them from now on, just to prove a point. I might even leave a little note attached to the unlocked lock, help the people on their way to properly securing their valuables.
Wait, so does it work on these things?

And i definitely don't have access to all kinds of locks to practice on. It's just something i had laying around and thought that it would make a nice video to expose the flaw/cheapness of it. Read up two posts also.
Your voice sounds incredibly sexy to me. Also, this is pretty neat.
