seems like youtube isn't supported anymore using awesomium as web api :s
Yes, see: Comment - Replace Awesomium · Issue #531 · Facepunch/garrysmod
Dont work anymore? ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
just use the chromium beta.. but videos must be over 360p i guess 720p works with the beta chromium branch
I just ran into this error on the 64bit build https://i.imgur.com/XphtlFu.png
I'm once again really glad you did this, because I recently learned that it's technically possible to mix 32 and 64 bit code within a single applicaiton on windows, and I totally would have done something terrible with this knowledge if there wasn't already an official 64 bit build.
Any news for linux?
Can the x86-64 branch be updated to be compatible with today's GMod Update? We can't join updated servers without it.
Also getting this on linux (arch)
Linux isn't supported yet. Willox has said this a million times. Use the search button.
I honestly don't know much about 32 vs 64 bit differences. What I think I know, is 32 bit can process 32 bits of info at once, while 64 bit can process 64 bits. So please correct me if I'm wrong, but the biggest difference between a 32 bit and 64 bit version that I might expect could be faster performance, and the ability to handle larger amounts of data in memory. Am i right? Are these the only major differences? Please let me know, I'm highly curious and I always like to learn something new.
It gives a higher memory-limit and seems to have a positive performance-impact on some tasks. Since 64bit can handle more data at once than 32bit. The biggest difference I noted, was that the game loaded 3-5 times faster and gave an FPS boost of 10-16 using the 64x. That is kinda it, there are no other difference in terms of gameplay and graphics.
some maps crash for me if I don't play them on 64x no idea why
Which maps specifically?
Some custom counter-strike source maps, namely de_boohouse, and only if I have CS:S mounted (which it obviously requires). Happens without workshop or legacy addons and when CS:S is the only game mounted, in case I join a server running it, for reference.
So I only just noticed that the 64 bit beta is available and tried it - I'm on Linux (Kubuntu 18.04) with an Nvidia card (proprietary drivers, version 396.54). I'm unable to test if this fixes the problem of getting "Lua Panic: Out of Memory" when connected to a server with 'too many' addons, because I can't connect to servers with addons at all, or singleplayer. Both crash the game. In case of multiplayer, it crashes after getting to "mounting addons". Singleplayer works fine if I disable all my addons, and I haven't tested multiplayer without addons yet because I have no idea if there even exists a server with no addons at all. I read above that the Linux version is being worked on, when will it be possible to join servers with addons, or will this only be possible when the 64 bit version is released? Furthermore (and I know the likelihood of this question being answerable is low), is there a general timeframe in which the release of the 64 bit version can be expected? Thanks.
seems like it messes with singleplayer, the effect is quite noticeable when playing the first few maps of HL:S
I'm assuming the server needs to be running the 64 bit branch to be able to test out this new voice codec?

This doesn't happen for me. I heard from someone else that it happened to them, too. Have you tried verifying the game cache?

I opened up the game on 64 bit to do another test, peer to peer multiplayer with 16 players. I haven't gotten around to that yet because something really weird happens. I've tested it in singleplayer and everything is fine, but peer to peer multiplayer does... well, this. (Sorry for the weird audio) https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/353676/cf792989-7968-418e-9e66-749ffeca1a04/2018-12-17 04-36-56.flv
Isn't it better to just use Proton now to play gmod on linux? Linux/MacOS version was always prone to crashes and weird stuff like this.
Was this on Linux?
Yes, Kubuntu 18.04, GTX 980, Nvidia proprietary drivers, version 396.54 And just in case you made any changes to anything that should have fixed my previous issue of crashing when mounting addons on joining servers, I still can't. That would require using something that allows me to download the Windows versions of games on Linux.
I'm gonna point out now that I have tested nothing of Linux clients except for joining a server. But it's probably my next thing to do, unless somebody wants to point out an obvious Windows issue.
I'd really appreciate if you could get the mounting addons crash fixed as soon as possible, I want to be able to play on the server I administrate without crashing with "Lua Panic: Out of memory" every day. I also sometimes get a "Failed to lock vertex buffer" or something error, with the symptoms of its impending appearance being random things such as map models, player spawned props, playermodels, and possibly other stuff turning into a black mesh that sometimes extends infinitely into the distance, but only when I look at whatever is the source of the black mesh in certain ways. A badly translated Russian video told me this failed to lock vertex buffer error is basically the same as Lua panic: Out of memory, but I don't know.
We'll probably start out with porting the new crash handler to Linux. Add me on steam and I'll tell you when each milestone happens: Steam Community
What about crash handler for servers so you can deal with all these pesky cryptic crashes?
Maybe because some crashes are caused by scripts doing stuff incorrectly and by some i mean almost all of them?
