Jazztronauts already has a Lua BSP parser, if you wanna reference that, but it's data already read and made available somewhere in the game for other purposes, so why not just expose what's already there to Lua?
Just wanted to mention that in safe mode you're unable to do anything with the menu because of the news feed thing. Except quit.
What do you mean by "safe mode"?
literally just -safe launch option
If you join a server that has a gamemode your client doesn't and you go into singleplayer it doesnt revert to your last used gamemode and engine crashes because the gamemode doesn't exist.
it happens to me every fucking time, I run a dedicated in my server, and if later I want to run another gamemode locally after changing it and using gamemode convar, game will crash since it keeps loading that gamemode
Just to be clear, this isn't something that started happening recently, is it?
Nope, it started happening like more than one year, i've been working in this gamemode and always been having this issue
Atleast my reproduction rate is:
>Open a srcds instance of a gamemode your client doesn't own
>Disconnect
>Switch to sandbox (You can change to gamemode sandbox, same result)
>Start a game
>???
>Crash
I've only ever had this happen after 2019.02.15 chromium update so this was my first ever run in with this issue thus why I thought it was a recent issue.
GDPR is non-functional imaginary law half-assed by soon to be defunct EU.
In the worst case the one being banned here would be you for your ignorance lol.
In my opinion this is the right thing to do tho, as some people wish for data not to be collected from their computer (for the analytics) and now with the GDPR on effect in the EU most companies that collect data like this have to comply with it if it's a product that's going to be on the EU.
Personally I don't mind but, I'd understand if other people mine.
Also how's this an "imaginary 'law'" and how's the EU going to be defunct lol
Classic situation.
I've been reading the old forums + new forums for 7 years now and it's always some drama with Garry freshly coming up.
The answers to complaints submitted by users were always unsatisfactory or devastating.
I wouldn't **** with Garry for sure.
It's a troll. Look:
There's no arguing with this, not because they're right, but because there's nothing there to argue about. When someone argues "Anything x is a joke", there's just no fucking way they're open to any form of reasoning whatsoever. Add the "bursting with laughter", and you're dealing with maniacal delusion. That or just plain trolling.
What GDPR violation are you talking about? I didn't see anything about analytics in the update, could you link to what you wrote four months ago?
So if I understand it right, some update in the dev/chromium branch added some form of data collection, and no dialogue was added to ask the user for consent. One could ask whether such consent is covered by any place where Steam asks for consent (which I think it might in some places, not sure).
A more interesting question to me is this: why are you so passionate about this? I'm sure there's more at play than just noticing something that's against the law. You seem to care about this a great deal, to the point of threatening a lawsuit. Is this something you think we should get behind? Is this specific data collection harmful to me as a GMod player?
If this data collection stuff is sending some seriously questionable shit, I'd like to know. Otherwise, if it's just some basic shit like OS, IP address and gamemode I play, I don't think I'll personally care. I know that a bunch of that stuff is shown in Steam Friends anyway.
Don't argue, just understand there are people that just have concerns about privacy, kinda the same people that hates google, facebook, some of those fellas uses VPN, android without play services, some crazy shits
To be honest i don't give a fuck at all if they even sell my data or whatever the fuck they want to if they don't fuck up performance and/or net usage, but I respect people take GDPR seriously while if it doesn't harm anyone, not sure at the point someone would fill a lawsuit (Tbh it would be fun lmao)
Why are you making this a big deal, when it doesn't need to be. I could care less about data being collected, if the data collected in Garrys mod helps make it better, then its a big win.
would it be possible to update steamworks.FileInfo to return more info in its callback such as requireditems, that being a table of required workshop item ids?
I'm not arguing, I wasn't aware of the wider context of this issue. Someone being this passionate about an issue could merit a closer look. Let's do just that.
That Facepunch violates the law doesn't convince me of much. Not every violation of law is worth caring about. Like I said, if it's just IP, OS, gamemode, they might technically break a law, but I wouldn't care. They already have that info, as most of it is necessary for the game to work. Look at Steam friends, you can see the gamemodes people are playing. I've also already seen tons of OS charts (On Garry's blog?). Those statistics were collected way before GameAnalytics was implemented.
However, the other points are more compelling:
I'm gonna go on a limb here and say it's probably going to be the basic shit mentioned above. However, for all I know, GMod might start recording my webcam when I'm with my dick out posing those Sonic ragdolls with the enormous tits and dicks

Or more realistically, get info about what other processes I'm running on my PC, or the shit I say in chat. Most people would probably have to forget starting a political career if that shit ever leaked online, lol.
Another argument I got from talking to someone on steam is actually the best argument I've seen so far:
How do we verify that we have consent?
[...]
For players we will audit game developers on a regular basis. The exact process of the audit will be put in place and its goal will be to determine if the game developer has made sufficient effort to ensure that the data collected is obtained with consent.
[...]
If a game developer is selected for an audit and we find that they do not collect consent, we will provide a term of 30 days for them to remediate the situation, before blacklisting them.
At the end of the 30 days we will check in with the developer to see if appropriate measures have been implemented. If the game developer requests an extension of term, this can be provided (dependant on review), up to a total of 30 days.
GDPR FAQs
GameAnalytics themselves are not OK with not asking for consent. They threaten to blacklist after 30 days after notice, 60 days with extension. Without a consent form, you can probably expect this to happen. That'll render the feature useless. It would be wise for the GMod devs to address that, even if they find this all to be drama about nothing big. A storm in a glass, re-implementing what was there before in a new framework.
Would it be possible to stick that on github?
So far I have noticed MinIsMin's posts, I think MinIsMin just wanted to do a favor in the beginning. He just wanted bring attention to an issue that is capable to cause problems in unexpected severeness, but was just called being "anal about it" later. I would be pissed off as well. I think it is like one of those cases a white hat hacker turns into black/gray hat, because they were pissed off after issuing severe security warnings/reports just to be ignored or not taken seriously.
I personally don't like it when people pulling out the big guns right a way. But I sometimes like the effects when people/companies notice they messed with the wrong guy that was just being friendly to them in the first place.
So how did you increase the limits without changing the format?
Those are the limits which are not hardcoded in the format. All I did was to match CS:GO's limits a bit earlier than 64 bit release.
Can the Chromium and 64-bit branches be updated so they can connect to updated servers please?
You still left the debug code when joining servers when requesting lua files.
Is this accidently, because you said it would be temporary?
Yes, shortly.

We got the uptate here, thanks rubat
Where is the corrected treesway shader
Where is the support of $flow effect for water
Where is the opportunity to scale models in hammer
Where is the Sprinkle tool
Where is the support of $phongalbedoboost
And here you can still list a huge number of errors that need to be fixed in the first place
And in the x64 build, the game crashes when you try to load a map of the battle royale from csgo.!
Does anyone else notice the issue with (presumably) borderless mode, when you can't press backspace in any TextEntry in the game (even console) unless you alt-tab from the game and back?
It's a pretty notorious Source bug.
