Use Raptr (AMD) or ShadowPlay(NVIDIA).
I use raptr.
Made it easy to change the base/stock vgui on my FrameWork. In one simple hook the menu from the first picture changed to that of the second. Elements can be moved/edited with ease.

Try Open Broadcaster Software or the gm_video command.

For small games like Garry's Mod use Fraps. For big games like ARMA, Battlefield, etc. use Shadowplay. Fraps has records with higher resolution lags a lot when used on big games, but you should be alright with Garry's Mod.
ShareX is an easy solution for recording, I believe garry uses it for the Rust dev blog clips.

if anyone has an nvidia card they should be using shadowplay to record imo due to it using the h264 encoder built into the card. its very light weight compared to other recording options and uses very little resources

ShareX is just very easy to use, you click a button, starts recording, click it again & it stops, and uploads to a file provider of your choice.
Tried using ShareX, nice results but for some reason can't create WebMs, so had to convert some shitty avi. Framerate is ruined.

i understood, thought you were talking about your hud, and didn't think you were being general - i think people just jump on bandwagons when one person takes it out of proportion.
Finished some of the creature ai base on the FrameWork. When you go too close, you alert them meaning they will follow for a short distance. Shooting means provoking them greatly so they will chase you for 4X the distance. Credits to whoever posted it on gmods.org for model and anims. Need to finish the attacks.

Not much to show for now, but I'm working on a pseudo-autocomplete for Atom.
Right now I have the provider for the enumerations down.
It uses the wiki's API to get all the members of the 'Enumerations' category and gets the data from there.
Sadly, there doesn't seem to be a standard for realm indicators for enumerations on the wiki, so I default to shared for all enums. This means that enums such as FFT_* appear shared, when they're not.
I guess I could update the wiki in a bit, but right now this is still in a very early development stage.

I should mention, it does not need to be connected to the internet at all, as it never queries the wiki when you code. Instead, it generates a list of autocomplete entries on demand (such as during installation and updates, or when manually requested) and saves it as [url=http://xav.pw/i/tWyAkr.json]json[/url]
